Console info and theft

Curious as to why Microsoft asks you to change all the information when your console is stolen. Also why does every say they can’t track the stolen product when they can ie- find my device. Why is Microsoft allowing these people to use stolen merchandise
when they can just bann the console from going online. This is a simple solution to the shady people who have and are stealing someone else’s things. If you have the serial number of a console registered to your account and it is reported stolen it should
receive a online bann until who ever has it can show or prove when and where they purchased it. That seems like a fair trade. As the person who’s console was stolen has to go out and spend another good portion of there pay check to acquire another console
it’s not fair to the person who was stolen from to have to do that while the thief playing on a stolen console gets to play for free. It almost like Microsoft is supporting this criminal activity
