Console doesn't respond to controller after reconnecting it after being inactive

Hey sorry if this has already been posted, but I did a bit of looking and didn't see anything.

tl;dr Controller dc's when inactive, reconnect it, console doesn't seem to respond.

So when a game is installing or there's an update, I tend to leave the room and let the Xbox One do it's thing, but then when I come back to my room and go to use it, I have to reconnect the controller as it's disconnected (which it should do seeing as I leave
it inactive for a bit), so I reconnect it, the Xbox white light comes on on the controller, which I guess means it's connected but then the Xbox doesn't respond to me pressing any buttons.

So I turn the controller on and off again yada yada, I plug in my play and charge kit, I press the sync buttons on the controller and console but nothing I do seems to work. I can't even reset the Xbox to get it to work. The only thing I can do is literally
remove the power source from the Xbox and then restart it to get it to work. Sorry for this being a bit long and taking ages to get to the point, but is this my Xbox being faulty or something I'm not doing right when trying to reconnect my controller. This
is the only time it happens, the controller never does this while using it.Also, the console is only a few days old as you could imagine.

Xbox one won't respond to controller except for xbox button

I can move between console off and controller off after pressing xbox button. But on the homepage i can't do anything. I tried reconnecting controller, turning off the console and on but it stayed the same. Finally I had to hold the xbox button on the console
for 10 seconds to turn it off. Now it work and responds like before. Should I worry about this or was this just a weird occurrence? Thanks everyone!
