Console Does Not Start After April Update

After applying the April update, as required as a user of Xbox Live, my Xbox One no longer starts. It is frozen in the green startup screen.

As a modern user of the Internet, I have already found the troubleshooting section of this website, and I have exhausted every option listed. I have tried every single start-up, turn-off process you guys can think of. I reformatted a thumb drive to NTFS
and ran the diagnostic like you said, and it did not resolve the issue.

I spent 2 hours with customer support explaining the above. It took 2 hours for them to finally tell me that I had no option but to pay Microsoft $115 to repair my Xbox, which I already told them I was aware of at the start of the conversation.

I know others have encountered this problem, as there was another thread that was locked for some reason, despite the fact that there is no resolution.

Charging your customers $115 for you to clean our Xboxes of malware which destroys our machine --
and which was sent by MICROSOFT -- IS NOT A RESOLUTION.

It would be nice to know how many others are experiencing this problem. It could be more common than you think, Microsoft forum moderators. How can you know how bad the problem is without customers, you know, CALLING IN, or POSTING ON YOUR FORUMS.

Please don't lock this thread without a resolution. This is already a terrible way to treat customers without you guys just acting like we are a nuisance for wanting a resolution instead of a $115 band-aid.

Sea of thieves chrashes since update from April 4th

Since today (the latest update of April 4th) sea of thieves does not start anymore!

I see the starting Screen, but after few seconds it disapears - back to the Desktop!

all Options described on the Support page tried....

does anybody have the same issue, or even a solution?

 

Games on live marketplace

I have notice after the update on April 1st that some games does not have a price on them. Example are dead space 2/3. Is this not for sell?

 

I had my Xbox 360 for 5 years before I encountered the "red ring of death."

Microsoft replaced it for free! I did not expect that.

I had my Xbox One for 16 months and Microsoft sends me malware which turns it into a brick. I have to pay $115 to repair it because I am 4 months past the warranty.

So what stops you from sending me this malware package EVERY TIME my warranty expires? Why would I pay you to break my Xbox?

 

i have also had major problems. Had an issue with the apps not displaying correctly but then recently i could no longer install games/apps or move then from internal to external or vice versa. Support then suggested a few ideas but this unfortunately then
caused my xbox to get stuck at the xbox logo screen. I have even tried doing the offline factory reset via usb but the xbox no longer reads from the usb port. And im told I will have to pay for the repair as warranty ran out in February.

 

Same problem with mine and they want £115 to fix a problem that has been caused by them shocking customer service

 

Wow. 170 USD then in the UK. Shameful!

You can buy a used Xbox One for less than that, perhaps.

All to fix a SOFTWARE ERROR caused by a MANDATORY DOWNLOAD FROM XBOX LIVE.

 

Same for me here too trying to download the OSUDT2.zip file and give that a crack but it is 1.8GB and the download rate from Microsoft soooooo slow 21k.... get your act together Microsoft

 

Did the Update last night, woke up and now I have the black screen of death. Glad to see I'm not alone. Surely there will be a fix for this from microsoft that actually works.

 

Steiney76: I have yet to hear of it working for anyone, but it probably wouldn't hurt to give it a shot.

tashortie: Exactly why I think people with this problem need to be patient and complain. The number of us has to reach critical mass. How upset will you be if you spend $115, and they release a free fix (either free tool to download or
free repair, as they have done in the past with the Xbox 360).

I tried the OSUDT2.zip file as well and it kept freezing when applying the update, so I had no other choice but to do the Restore Factory Defaults file on the USB thumb drive and this solved the green/balck screen issue. This also puts the XB1 back to square
one and you have to put in all the settings again. It actually went smoother than I thought it would even though I really shouldn't have had to do this to begin with. Shouldn't there be an ability to clone your hard drive from the One so that if it does this
your data can be restored? Maybe this is already possible and I just don't know about it?

Still no fix then and the only resolution to this problem if the USB factory reset don't work is to send it to Microsoft for a costly repair and no guarantee that it will not do the same thing next time it does an update

 

Mister Quinby: This is not an "inconvenience." Can't you see how the language you guys use is condescending and disrespectful? An "inconvenience" would have been spending 2-3 hours out of my day running the OSUDT2.zip file and it actually
worked. Or spending 2-3 hours on the phone with Xbox customer service and actually having a resolution, or maybe learning something that I didn't already know at the start of that conversation. Those things would be "inconvenient."

You know what's worse than an "inconvenience?" Extortion. We are being extorted out of our money to fix machines that
you guys broke.

This is like if a gang smashes your window and asks for protection money.

This is not an "update issue." This is Microsoft breaking my Xbox and then demanding money if I want to access my digital content ever again.

Why should we give in? You guys can do this to us whenever you want. There's no guarantee this won't happen the very next update after I get my "repaired" Xbox back. Your customer service "professional" told me to get a longer warranty next time. Well, if
you guys just do this to me after my warranty runs out again, it makes no difference how long the policy I purchased was. It's just more money in your pockets.

But, it's not seeming to reach any form of critical mass here, so I'm guessing this thread will go nowhere, just like the last one, and just like the next one. The message I am getting is that if your Xbox Live update breaks a small percentage of Xboxes
every month, then that is just the price of Xbox Live these days. Terrible way to treat customers. The other customers just aren't upset because it hasn't happened to them yet.
