Console Companion Issues with the IP Address

There are a few things that could be causing this issue. It's possible that your Xbox's IP address has changed, which can happen if your router was restarted or if your Xbox was turned off for an extended period of time. Another possibility is that your router's DHCP server is not properly assigning IP addresses to devices on your network. To fix this, you can try manually assigning a static IP address to your Xbox. You can also try resetting your router and restarting your Xbox.

Xbox updated their PC apps recently with the introduction of the PC Game Pass. They changed the name of the Xbox app to the Xbox Console Companion and there is another app for PC Game Pass now. I'm not sure if they changed anything in the console app other
than that.

Just to clarify, are you entering the console IP address and not you computer's IP address?

Thank you for your post. I understand you are experiencing an issue with setting up game streaming from your Xbox One to your Windows 10 PC. If your Xbox app does not detect the console on your network, you'll have to obtain the IP address from the console.
The IP address of a console can only be obtained by viewing it in the console's settings or via your router's connected devices list if available. For information on streaming, check out: Using the

A solution for this issue may be to override your router's DHCP settings to provide permanent IP addresses to either console. You will need to identify the MAC address for each individual console, and manually assign the IP address that way. Once this
is done, you will then need to set your console to manual IP configuration, and input the IP address you assigned each console.

Earlier there was an issue where when I tried to start up the console it gave me an error code and said that updates needed to be completed in order to play. This was an issue that people were all talking about on the Xbox support page. Unfortunately the
console companion app is the only means I have to display the image from my Xbox so I cannot easily check for my IP address.
