Console companion gone. What now?

Exactly. They've had so much time to get this right but instead chose to just shut the companion down and hope everyone was ok with the xbox app on windows & mobile devices. The only way we can now customise our avatars is via the xbox app on mobile. What if I don't have/want a smart phone?

This is just typical half baked Xbox to be honest. I'm not sure why I expected anything else.

The xbox app has a fraction of the usable features as the xbox console companion did. Why are there such a limited number of the abilities from one program to another when there was almost a decade of prep time on Xbox/MS end to make this happen?

The Xbox Console Companion app will no longer be available for download or have official support as it is being deprecated. It is recommended for users to download the Xbox app, which provides additional features and enables connectivity with Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S through Windows.

As for the customize gamerpics is no longer available from the Xbox app, we are sorry.

The APP was updated and is simply called the Console Companion. The Beta APP and the console companion are pretty much identical at the moment so I think you only need the console companion which is the newest version. I have the beta app which updated
and is now simply called Xbox (beta) as I said there is no discernable difference.

You could also use the console companion app to download your videos to your computer, that's what I do... here is a link to the app.
