Console can't connect to Xbox Live after unplugging power

Every time I unplug the console, it refuses to connect to Xbox Live. This is when there's a power failure, when I unplug it to move it to the next room or any scenario that involves unplugging the console from the power brick.

Trying to send a message gives 0x8000ffff

Removing profile and trying to re-download gives 0x80a40019

Trying to launch a game gives 0x87dd001a

Internet is fine, the Xbox 360 has no issues on same network.

Under network settings, Current Network Status reports everything OK and it can even report service alerts if there are any.

I've been in chat with Xbox Support and they talk me through the whole troubleshooting process and it boils down to a manual offline update, which fixes the problem, but it only works until I unplug the console from power again.

I can have the console running for weeks without any connectivity problems, but the moment there is a power failure or any thing happens that involves unplugging the power brick, the console will no longer connect to live. Manual offline update always fixes
the problem, but unplugging the console from power always causes the problem again.

Is there anything I can do to fix this problem permanently?

Connection is good but Xbox Live cannot be connected

Hey there JammedOcean1153 and AngelDeadNGone!

Are you still seeing issues with connecting to Xbox Live? If you're still not able to connect let's try a full power cycle on your console by holding the power button for 10 seconds (or until console powers off). While your console is off try resetting your
network by unplugging network hardware for 30 seconds and reconnect.

After you reset your network try connecting to Xbox Live again and let us know how it goes.

Hey Sosa!

Sorry to hear about the issue. Have you tried
power cycling your Xbox One console yet? If not, try that first. I'd also suggest unplugging your console from everything, including your networking hardware, and then unplugging your network as well. After about 5-10 minutes, plug it all back in and see
if you're able to access Xbox Live then.

Be sure to include any troubleshooting steps you have tried so far, so we don't provide you with solutions that may only echo back.

Can you also state whether you have your console's power mode set to "Instant-On", or Energy saving.

Hey Bryan!

Thank you for posting, if the console is giving errors about connecting to Xbox Live maybe try these steps to troubleshoot this.

Hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds to turn it off
After the console is off, unplug the router and modem that the console is connected to for 30 seconds
Plug the router and modem back in and allow them to power on
After the internet connection is established, power back on the console
Attempt to complete the desired task on the console one reconnected

You see the following error code when downloading your Xbox Live profile or connecting to Xbox Live:

80151909

This means that there’s a temporary connection problem with Xbox Live.

Note If you see the “Your console can't connect to Xbox Live” message instead, try the solutions at

Error 8015190B occurs when connecting to Xbox Live on Xbox 360.

Check for service alerts on the

Xbox Live Status page. If there's currently a service alert for Xbox Live, it could be preventing you from connecting. Try again after the issue has been resolved.

If there are no Xbox Live service alerts, try the next solution.

Turn off the console.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the console.
Unplug the power supply from the electrical outlet, and then unplug the short cord from the power supply.
Plug the power cord back into the console, and then plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet and the power supply. Make sure that all three power supply connections are firm.
Turn on the console and redownload your profile. (See

I was able to successfully sign back in to XBL on the X1 with the hard reset (holding in the power button for 10 seconds, unplugging the power cord, and powering up the x1 again). I was prompted for my first and last name after the X1 powered back on and
after that the console connected to xbox live

Hi Drifty,

Do you mind clarifying what you are attempting to do when you receive this error? If you are having issues connecting to Xbox Live try powering off your console and unplugging it for 10 seconds, while the console is unplugged, unplug the router/modem's power
cord for 30 seconds, plug the router/modem back in and allow it to establish a connection. Once the connection to the internet is established, plug in and power on the Xbox console to attempt the action again.
