    Hi there,

    I have updated my console (Xbox One) and cannot turn the console back on. It powers up to only a black screen. Then after 30 seconds it automatically shuts itself down.

    I have followed other threads and guidance to no avail (I.e., change HDMI, Hold down power and other buttons to force low resolution mode).

    I am outside of my warranty and I'm annoyed that this issue has been caused by Microsoft and it's update. Is there anyway this can be fixed.

    Hi Pat, I’m having this issue after an update also. Did your console immediately go to the black screen or were you getting the black screen immediately after powering it on.

    This is happening indeed.

    What you would do to fix it is simple:

    1. First turn off your Xbox completely by holding the power button for 10 seconds.

    2. Then, press and hold the Sync and Eject buttons.

    3. Press the power button next, and keep holding the Sync and Eject buttons together.

    4. Keep holding the Sync and Eject buttons, until the troubleshooting menu appears.

    5. Select the option "restore this xbox" and choose keep my games and apps.

    After the update for some reason my console is not displaying on my TV.

    Hi there, I've attempted your steps for a second time now. It's an original Xbox One.

    I think this is a ludicrous business practice. The fact the update caused this issue, by Microsoft and now I've got to pay them to replace/ repair.

    I've been a user of Xbox since the first console, but no longer.
