  1. console back from repair

Hi, just got my console back from repair and when I put it on it needed setting up again. Went through a series of questions then it said time to up date. It downloaded the update then it applied it, next time I looked it was saying an error occured with
update, and now saying it's not conecting to network but how did it download the update if it's conected?

    thanks for any help Graeme

    :)

Hey there Ace! Glad we could get your console repaired, and sorry to hear that getting back up and running has been a bit of a pain. The posters above are correct though, you're going to need to re-do the install. However, if it's the scratched disc that's
making that hard, you can actually look into ordering a replacement for it: Xbox 360 Game Replacement

I am aware of how to do it, thanks for the reply anyway.

It's a joke that I have to re-rent it and to say it's just due to anti-piracy is pretty rubbish... see this thread ...

Hey there Graeme console back from repair :)

It sounds as though your connection may have dropped during the update or your update had problems during the first install. Are you not able to simply try the update again? If so, I would give that a go. Also, try using a wired connection if you aren't
    already.

    Many thanks,

    Cloud

Definitely echoing what Cloud said, try re-updating using a wired connection. Let me also ask, when you see the error message, are you able in any way to get to the dashboard? If so, you would be able to press Menu --> Settings --> System and choose the
    manual update option.

If not, you may need to download the "Offline System Update Diagnostic Tool," which is installed to a pen drive and plugged into the console. It then runs a diagnostic on your system to see what the problem was with the update and, ideally, fixes the issue.

  6. Hi thanks for replies, when it happened it would not go to main menu or ant where else, but I left it off for an hour and when I tried again it said there was a fault with xbox live then it went on, so panic over.

    thanks again

Thanks for the reply I have done a license transfer but it is still prompting me to reinstall things, for instance my Skyrim disc is scratched so I had to rent it to install it, when I try to play from disc it crashes, but when I press 'x' it says 'delete'
instead of 'install' but still gives me the 'can only play this on the original console and hdd etc'
