Console asks to update randomly

I've been having issues with my xbox forcing me to do updates at very random times, such as when I'm in a game and I hit the home button to bring up the side bar it'll kick me to the update screen and if I want to keep playing I need to update the console.
I've even had this happen to me once in the middle of a game without hitting the home button my console pulled me to the update screen. I have it set up so the console will do downloads and updates in sleep mode but lately it's just been forcing me to do updates
when I'd rather be gaming. Is there any way to fix this?

My console randomly fixed its self its now working fine and normal but I haven't installed any new updates?

Can you expand a bit on this? If your console is taking an update, it shuts off randomly?

I understand that, my issue isnt with the console updating its that when I'm currently using my console for gaming it forcibly removes me from that option and forces me to update the console which takes up to 10-15 minutes

 

The update did not have to be completed. Maybe you have slow Internet and the update will not be downloaded or completed.

 

The only options it was giving me was update or to stay offline. And it can't be an issue of my internet speed I pay for 200mbps down, and running a speed test ont he console itself using a cat 6 ethernet cable I'm currently receiving 236.03 down and 9.41
upload, 0 packet loss and 64 ms latency

 

Are you part of the insider preview? If you are I would suggest taking a few moments when you open up the Xbox to check if there is an update waiting. Keep upto date feature doesn't always work for insider preview. Updates will be forced as all insider
consoles, within each ring need to be on the same OS. Typically forced between 6-8 hours after release.

 

I am an insider member, I guess that is where the issue is, because typically this hasnt been an issue but lately I've been gaming later at night so I'm assuming they put out the update at night, and my console is being used until they force the update
through at any point

 

Keep an eye on Reddit as updates are announced on the day they are released, with a time.
