Consistent and constant high ping spikes with wi-fi

Hello,

I've been experiencing short duration (about 2 seconds) high ping spikes (+300 ms) every 15 seconds or so in my PC, which makes it impossible to play games or do any other task that requires consistent ping.

This happens when i'm using wi-fi, when i use an ethernet cable, the spikes disappear.

This is what it looks like when i use the command "ping www.google.com -t" in the command prompt (with "tiempo" meaning "time"):

Relevant information:

- Getting closer to the router does not prevent the lag spikes.

- This problem is only present in my computer and no other device.

- Connecting my computer via ethernet solves the issue, so it seems like a wireless connection type of problem (my workstation is away from the router so this is not really an option).

- The computer is new, started using it about 20 days ago, but the problem presented itself about 10 days ago.

- Windows update says everything is up to date.

- This problem persist even when my computer is the only device in use.

Things i've tried to solve the issue:

- I uninstalled and installed again the wi-fi driver (Realtek RTL8852AE WiFi 6 802.11ax PCle Adapter).

- I did a complete analysis with McAfee antivirus.

- Disabled "allow downloads from other PC's" inside delivery optimization.

All of these did nothing.

I've tried my best to solve this issue but i am not capable of doing so, i would be really happy to see if anyone has any idea.

Hello, the nature of your problem makes it difficult for us to support here. There are no reported outages that appear related to what you are experiencing, and the problem seems to be very specific to your computer, and unrelated to Xbox services or products.

For your problem, I would recommend checking to see if the problem occurs with any other computers that connect to the same wifi. If the problem happens with other computers, then the problem may be with your router or your internet service provider. If the problem only continues with your computer when its on wifi, then the problem could be related to the wifi card on the computer (the hardware).

Is your wi-fi working fine cause i run on wi-fi and it works fine apart from a high 200 ms latency how is your wi-fi connection ?

Well then you should try it wired and see if the same thing happens.

Mobile hotspot is to see if the ping increases the same as your other internet connection

Another option could try reinstalling the most recent wi-fi driver

Or if you already had the latest version, install the previous one

I'm having the same issue, ping spikes only when gaming. As I noticed, this only happened when I updated my PC to Windows 11. And strangely, the ping reduce whenever I'm on a FB video call.
