    Considering buying a Xbox Series S


    Hi guys.

    Well for the first time of my life I'm considering buying a Xbox. More precisely the Series S.

    Just a background. I currently have a PS5 (with the Blu-Ray driver) since day one and I have a the following PC (i5 8400, RX 580 8GB, 16GB RAM). As you can see my PC is not that powerful but not weak. At PC I play at 1080p which is the max resolution that my monitor supports. The PS5 is connected to a 4k TV (Samsung Q80T 55"). And I have a good sound system as well so with the comfort of my couch is an awesome relax time. I work in front of a PC and with this "Working From Home" my patient to be playing in front a PC after a day of work is not that much.

    Said this I'm considering buying a Xbox Series S. Why? The main reasons are the backwards compatibility and game pass service. BC interest me because there are some X360 games which I never played (I want to complete Gears 2 and 3 mostly) and other ones that I like to replay (like Red Dead Redemption 1, I have a PS3 as well but some multi platform versions are worse unfortunately and I don't know how much my PS3 will survive) and the game pass service on console is way more complete than on pc.

    One thing I tried was using the Steam Link (my PC and my TV are connected by ethernet to the same router) but the result was not that good. For Steam games was acceptable but the image was worse than playing on monitor. For non steam games (like the ones from Microsoft Store) was an absolutely nightmare not just on image quality but as controller as well (but this seems maybe to be a configuration problem).

    At first I thought of selling my GPU to buy the Xbox but even then I would regret because there are some PC games that I like to play like Command & Conquer, Counter Strike, Starcraft, World of Warcraft and other ones and without the gpu it would be a nightmare to play them with the integrated graphics.

    All that said this leads to me buying a Xbox Series S. My concern here is said my options/background do you think that justifies buying a Series S? I don't have interest in Series X (at least for now) so we can ignore that for now.

    Changing resolution

    Yes, Xbox Series X will have a setting to change resolution. However you can also consider buying an Xbox Series S if you do not plan to upgrade your TV/Monitor just yet.

    Series S bad HDR on a 4K TV

    You sir are wrong. I have a 4K HDR tv and the xbox one X looks superior to the xbox series S. Even the textures load faster on xbox one X. Series S shouldn't even be considered next gen in my opinion. Xbox Series S gives off the worse picture I ever seen. Xbox series S only has 4 terraflops. My xbox one X has 6 terraflops. So you should consider the false information you are spreading. We trying to get some real answers here

    There is one other item to consider. The S series 360's have a digital optical audio port but the new E series does not.

    Theres not much you can do, this isnt like a PC game where you can modify reoslution etc. if its running bad then about the only thing you can do is consider buying a more modern console like the Xbox One X or the Xbox Series S/X
