    Connectivity Issues with Ethernet cable


    My setup is a master router connected to a slave router with the slave router configured as an access point.

    My phone and laptop connect to the slave router wirelessly without issue. My Xbox was unable to connect wirelessly because it ‘required additional authentication’ - so I connected via Ethernet cable to the master router and had no problems.

    Suddenly recently I turned on my Xbox and even via Ethernet connection to the master router I can’t progress past ‘additional authentication needed’ and can’t connect to Xbox live or play online. Interestingly the Netflix app works flawlessly with high speed
    4K streaming. It is as if the Xbox does not realise it is online.

    Any help appreciated.

    How to Connect Internet Cable directly to Xbox 360

    Hi everybody.

    So recently I've been experiencing a lot of lag on CoD, i.e, whenever I join a game I get 2-bar and 3-bar connections. So I decided to search for some solutions. I read somewhere that I can fix this problem by directly connecting my Xbox to the router using an Ethernet cable. Now the problem arises as I do not possess an Ethernet cable.
    Currently, I have a cable through which Internet is supplied (It's a Fibrenet connection, which uses Optical Fibres for transmitting the Internet) and this cable is connected to a router which provides me WiFi.
    I was wondering if I can connect my Internet Cable directly to the Xbox 360 without Ethernet cables.
    (The cable looks exactly like an Ethernet cable so it can fit into the Ethernet jack of the Xbox, so that problem is covered.)

    EDIT : I connected the Internet Cable to the Xbox but when I tested connection, It does not connect to Internet. Help

    New XB1 owner. Looks great, but DL times, ugh...

    Don't think I haven't considered that.

    My speeds are fine on my laptop, no issues with Steam whatsoever.

    I'm going to break out an ethernet cable in a bit, to see if it's the wifi connection.

    Could you check if you are able to connect to the XBox through your Laptop.

    And try to stream the Xbox on to your Laptop.

    This test will let you know if the XBox and Laptop are connected to the same Network, through the Router.

    Check also if the IP address are from the same Network/Gateway (Your Router)

    What is your Network Configuration lik:

    1. Internet ISP

    2. Modem/Router Home

    3. Ethernet connection with other second Router

    4. Xbox, Laptop, Phone???????

    Hi Marius! Sorry to hear about the issue. Let's do our best here to figure this out.

    Is this your first time trying to connect your console via Ethernet cable?
    To isolate the issue, please try to use a different Ethernet cable if available. On your modem/router or gateway, try to connect the cable to a different Ethernet port.

    It's possible to be a router configuration issue, I would suggest if possible to factory reset your router to reset its configuration and try connecting it again via Ethernet.

    Attempting to connect it at your friend's house is a good idea. Also, have you tested the cables with other devices such as a computer?
