  1. Connection Woes and Poor Upload Speed

I posted about this in another support thread, but did not receive any help and was instead asked to create my own thread on the subject (since I was attempting to piggy-back off of someone else who seemed to be suffering from the same issue).

Ever since I received the previous update for the update preview program (current OS version = 6.2.12698.0 (xb_rel_1504.150317-2200) fre) about a week or so ago, I've been having networking issues. Whether that's a coincidence or not, I'm not sure, but my
problem still persists. I am having issues connecting to games online. If I'm playing some of my favorites such as Killer Instinct, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, and Battlefield: Hardline, among others, it takes forever for me to connect to a match (upwards
of 10-20 minutes). Of course, that's assuming it finds 1 at all. Even in the rare instance that I do find 1, it doesn't last long and usually disconnects. I'm also having issues hosting games, sending messages, and joining/hosting parties (which also disconnect).
When I ran the network statistics diagnostic in the settings menu, all of the numbers come up relatively normally (some of which was actually slightly better in some cases) with the exception of the upload speed, which is completely blank - it's not even listed!
If I run a network test on the console, it says I'm connected to the Internet just fine. However, if I run a multiplayer test, this is where the real crux seems to be. I'll either get 1 of 2 messages: "can't finish multiplayer tests. (Ox7fc3)" which is the
more common of the 2, or "your upload speed is too slow)." The last time I saw the latter message, it said my upload speed was 39kbps. When I looked under "system" in the settings menu, it said there was no update available, but oddly enough, when I looked
at the console info, which is also under the settings menu, the "latest status" read "update pending." Why would it contradict itself in this way? Is it because I'm in the update preview program? Regardless, I find that quite odd.

In the other thread, you asked for numerous bits of info, so I thought I'd save time by giving it to you in this thread upfront before you have to ask for it.

    State: Florida

    Modem: Westell Versalink Model 327W

    Router: Netgear Nighthawk X6

Connected Consoles: 1 Xbox 360 and 1 Xbox One (both connected wirelessly)

    UnPnP enabled: Unknown

    NAT Error: none

    NAT Type: Open

ISP: AT&T (normally get 6mbps down with 1mbps up and ~100ms ping for latency and 0-1% packet loss with about 60-70% wireless strength)

Other than the various tests already mentioned above that were performed on the console, I have also done a hard reset of the Xbox One console, the router, and the modem (each done individually) in an attempt to resolve this issue - none have worked.

I have suffered some slow upload issues on mine and my brother's desktop PCs as well, which leads me to believe it's a network issue and not potentially a console issue. However, when I run tests via speedtest.net, everything comes up fine (including the upload
speeds). When I checked for additional devices on the network that may be slowing it down, I found a few oddities that i felt were worthy of note. For some reason, 2 of our 3 smart TVs in the household were listed multiple times - I'm not sure why. I did find
a device I did not recognize, too. It turned out to be my mother's Android cellphone - I had her disable her wifi connection to the network, but it did not resolve the issue, which leads me to believe that it's not the cause. I have also checked all of the
physical wiring for any deficiencies (even going as far as replacing the cords) and found none to speak of; everything also seems to be connected physically just fine (nothing appears to be loose). I have even run anti-virus software on all of our devices
to see if I was under "attack" and found nothing there either.

I'm plum out of ideas at this point and would appreciate any help you could provide.

    :)

What is your download and upload speed?

If your connection is too poor or if their connection is too poor you wont be able to connect.

Apart from the lack of maps and the latency correction system, this is probably the best Halo MP to date...

I have completed around 640 games in Halo 4 and it runs very smooth 99.9% of the time unless someone in the room has a poor connection. Usually if they have a poor download speed or poor upload speed. Latency correction? Explain?

I'd also like to add that the 2 desktop PCs mentioned above are hardwired via ethernet cables and are not connected tot he network wirelessly like the consoles are. This leads me to believe that hardwiring the consoles would not solve the issue either, although
it is not something I have admittedly yet tried (since it would require 50+ ft. worth of ethernet cable going across the house, which simply isn't practical or even approved by my mother - it's her house).

Since you already connect an additional layer of NAT (Netgear Nighthawk), the Versalink 327W has to be operating as a standard modem, and not as a wireless router/NAT.

Please let us know what you find out.

  7. I'm not entirely certain, and I'll double-check this, but I think it's in pass-through mode because the last time I checked, I had the option to bridge the two, which means that they probably aren't. I do, however, know for a fact that I have disabled the
wireless features of the modem so that they wouldn't interfere with the Nighthawk (which my brother and I actually purchased to replace the modem entirely, but then found out it didn't have a modem itself, so we had to use both). ><

I'm sorry, but I assumed you were about to "double-check" your Versalink 327W's settings, and verify that this device is operating as a standard modem.

Wireless settings on your Versalink is not the problem, layers of NAT are, that is if the Versalink is not operating as a standard modem.

I suggest that you reach out to your service provider and have them know about your situation, so they can help you configure your gateway to be operating in bridge mode (if it's possible).

    Keep us posted!
