Connection to xbox live issues and failing to start a game when playing UNO

    Hi all

First off, I would like to apologise if I've posted this in the wrong section, this seemed the most likely one to post it in but I wasn't too sure whether the issue that I'm having is down to my connection or my xbox.

The xbox 360 I'm using is my son's old one and I've been experiencing problems logging onto xbox live. It appears to sign me in, but when I go to play UNO it asks me to sign in again. Sometimes it pops up with saying that the console is unable to connect
to xbox live, but when I go to check the connection everything is fine and I'm able to then play UNO (sorry I forgot to mention that this is online play)

The other issue I'm experiencing is that very often when I'm playing in a ranked match when I or someone else presses start, an error message "Failed to start game" pops up. This can happen several times in a row before successfully getting into a match.
Now I don't know whether this is related to my connection issues I'm having, but myself and my husband thinks it's because of a faulty ethernet port, which is possible because my son is not the best at handling things as he has fine motor control issues. I'm
thinking of getting a new xbox in the next few weeks but was just wondering if this is indeed an issue with the xbox or an issue with xbox live itself at the moment?

Many thanks in advance for your help Connection to xbox live issues and failing to start a game when playing UNO :)

    :)

  2. Xbox One bugs and issues

    Hello.

Over the past few months my xbox one has being playing up i have a number of issues with starting up games i have brought from the store here are my issues.

1.Xbox DVR not always being able to "Record that" (Or not a option at all)

2.Games failing to start up. I get a error message telling me i need to be online to play game even when i have a connection to Xbox Live.

    2. Leaving Xbox live partys randomly with no warining.

3.Xbox temporarly freezing (for only a second or two).

4.Xbox Servers not having a stable connection.

I have checked with friends and other people on xbox live and they are either having one or more of these issues or all of them.

I hope this is fixed in a patch soon.

  3. Xbox Live keeps disconnecting after 20 minutes

Hi, I have a problem with playing games online which have been fine for over a year. Whenever I am playing online, without fail I will lose Xbox Live connection after 20mins to an hour game time. When I return to the dashboard and test internet connection
and xbox live connection everything is fine but trying to sign in again it will not let me into Xbox live and that is it until the next day when it seems fine again until 20 minutes or so of playing it disconnects again. On the test connection I have never
not been able to connect to xbox live but it still repeatedly refuses to sign me in.

I have a wireless connection with good speed (all other devices never lose connection) and if it wasn't for the test connection never failing I would blame the broadband.. Switching off Xbox and reconnecting to the wireless hub does not acheive anything.

Any idea's, is my Xbox just faulty?

  4. Connection to xbox live issues and failing to start a game when playing UNO

Hi there, so just on that first issue you mentioned, is it only when starting Uno or if you start any game or app it logs you out? If it logs you out on the start up of any game or up, delete the profile from the console (profile only), clear the system
cache, restart the console and re-download the profile.

    Delete and re-download profile:
    support.xbox.com/.../profile-move-delete

    Clear system cache:
    support.xbox.com/.../clear-system-cache

I can't be on any help on that second issues.

Thanks for getting back to me. I'm not really a big online player - I kind of only play UNO and Monopoly deal online. However, my son is and his profile is still on the xbox. Would I need to delete all profiles, before clearing the system cache? Want to
make sure before I try!! Connection to xbox live issues and failing to start a game when playing UNO :)

On the second issue, I have tried an online search but it hasn't brought anything up so I'm not sure whether it's an issue other players are experiencing or just myself. Was hoping that someone who played UNO would be able to clarify that for me!

  6. Only delete the profile that is having the sign-out issues, also please make sure to select profile only so you don't delete your content and save files.

You never know, this solution may fix both issues, but see how you go.

Connection to xbox live issues and failing to start a game when playing UNO

Hi, I've just deleted the profile and cleared the system cache and tried UNO again and I'm still having the issue where it says my xbox cannot connect to xbox live. After doing the "test Xbox live connection" test it lets me play UNO.

Could this be a result to a dodgy xbox? It was supposed to go in for a repair because it had some issues with the disk tray but my son got a new xbox instead and we never got around to sending it in. Now the insurance has lapsed on it and it'll probably
be cheaper to replace than pay the costs for it to repaired!

  9. So is this happening with any other game or is it just UNO? Also does it throw up any kid of error code that can help highlight more specifically what might be going on? I don't think it would be because of a dodgy disc drive as the game is digital.

At the moment, I can only suggest going through the random disconnect wizard and seeing if that helps in troubleshooting the issue:

I'm sorry when I said the xbox is dodgy it's not just the disk drive. The initial repair was for the disk tray but a couple of times it got a red ring of death. As I said my son got a new xbox instead of sending it off for repair. I've just tried to set
up wireless connection but this xbox doesn't seem to have that option available, despite showing the icon for connecting wirelessly to the network. An error pops up saying that I need to buy a wireless adaptor. I think what has caused the problem is that my
son is heavy handed and has fine motor control issues, so he struggles with tasks such as unplugging the ethernet cable and plugging it into another device (I also know it's not my cable as I use it on my play station and I've had no issues connecting to the
network.) I was hoping that setting up a wireless connection would fix the issue but unfortunately I can't test that!

As to whether it's just UNO I'm having the issue with I'm not sure. To be honest with you I play UNO the most (I find it very addictive!) and rarely play Monopoly Deal, when I do it's usually with my son and there's never been an issue (usually because I've
already had to do the test connection settings thing first as I've already been on playing UNO) so this is something that I will look at tomorrow. I will try to access an online game of monopoly deal first before playing UNO and seeing if I have the same issue
Connection to xbox live issues and failing to start a game when playing UNO :)

I've been looking at how much an xbox 360 is and they're not badly priced so I'll probably end up getting a new one so that I have the option to connect wirelessly if I wish to, that way at least I'll know if it's the xbox (in which case I'll throw it in
the bin, the old one that is!!!!) or our network itself! Either way I'll let you know how I get on Connection to xbox live issues and failing to start a game when playing UNO :)

(BTW I don't think wirelessly is a word, at least according to my spell check, but I don't really care, I know what I mean!!! Connection to xbox live issues and failing to start a game when playing UNO :p)

  11. I mean it's a possibility the RRoD has an affect, but I really don't think so in this case. Setting it up with a wireless connection is actually worse than using the Ethernet cable and we generally advise people to test connections with a wired connection.

If you have the old console, which is sounds like you do, you definitely need the network adapter to connect wirelessly (it's totally a word), the new slim consoles have this feature in-built.

    It really does sound like a networking issues, I think the last suggestion I might have is to reset your network to the default settings and see if this has an effect, to do this;

    Restore Network Defaults

    1. Press the Guide Button on your controller, go to Settings.

    2. Select System Settings then Network Settings.

    3. Select Wired Network or your wireless network when displayed.

    4. Select Configure Network then Additional Settings tab.

    5. Select Restore to Factory Defaults then confirm when prompted.

Other than that, we might have to wait and see if you have the same issue when starting up other games.
