Connection to Teredo behind CGNAT not possible - Xbox-Network

    Hello together,

I recently downloaded Forza Horizon 4 again and tried to play with a friend of mine. While I downloaded the Game from a different location as my home and played from there, I was behind a public IP on my side.

However, my friends ISP is using CGNAT which is causing him to not have an own public IPv4 address which might be required for Teredo. As IPv4 is running out and CGNAT is more and more common, is there a solution on how to play online with friends behind CGNAT?

Can you for example use the Toredo Network with nativ IPv6 only?

I can't belive this is a thing that Microsoft didn't thought of and I am currently confused if I am just to "smart" to think of the solution. Can anyone help me on how to play online behind CGNAT?

Checking his Toredo state via CMD:

    • Typ : natawareclient
    • Servername : win1910.ipv6.microsoft.com.
    • Clientaktual.-intervall : 20 Sekunden
    • Clientport : unspecified
    • Status : offline
    • Fehler : primäre Teredo-Server nicht über UDP erreichbar
    Code:
(In case someone is asking for the Server-verification: I am using Toredo successfully on the same server)Thank you very much in advance for any help!Best regards,

    :)

The problem is now solved. However, it is not solved behind CGNAT.

For the connection to work I had to get in contact with Xbox support and my ISP. I figured with the Xbox support, that the only way to get Teredo to work properly behind CGNAT is to request at the ISP to do Port-Forwarding to your CGNAT IP. As we all know, this will most likely never happen.

However, I gave it a shot and requested a public IP at my ISP and to my surprise, they instantly approved the request and provided the public IP without any extra charges.

    --------------

I tried to give it a short explaination below on how I solved the problem in the end:

For your notice, for me my "netsh interface Teredo show state" showed disabled.

    1. Get a public IP on your Routers WAN interface

    2. Disable Teredo Filter on Router

    - Internet

    - Filters

    - Lists

    - Uncheck "Teredo-filtering"

(2.1) It might be that there is port-forwarding required. If so, please enable

it on your router for the system you try to connect via Teredo.

    - Internet

    - Port Sharing

    - Check the box "Independent port-sharing for this device"

    3. Search for "cmd" and open it as Administrator

    4. Type "netsh interface Teredo set state client" and press return

    5. Search for "Xbox-Network" and open it

    6. Perform the Test and check if Xbox Live is now connecting properly

At this point you might have solved the Problem.

    Best regards.

why is microsoft so bad and over complicated, ?

Teredo is a networking protocol that’s used to establish secure communications between clients and servers, and to facilitate connectivity between devices behind routers that use network address translation (NAT).
Failure to obtain a Teredo IP address can occur when there’s an issue with your Teredo adapter, when a device on your network is blocking the Teredo protocol, or if there’s software installed on your PC that’s disabling Teredo functionality. Without a Teredo IP address, you’ll be unable to use party chat or do multiplayer gaming on Xbox Live

    Teredo is unable to qualify

If you can’t hear your friends online, or you can’t join or host an Xbox Live multiplayer game, go to
Network > Settings in the Xbox app and check
    NAT type
    .

If it says Teredo is unable to qualify, your PC is unable to obtain a Teredo IP address.

What brands of phones hotspot is supported with Series X

I'm Samy an independent advisor and I'll be helping you :D

    How are you?

As useful as hotspots are, it is not the best option to play online as it does not have the necessary structure to play online.

The problem you are facing is not because of your phone but because of the network ports that your ISP blocks or limits.

On a router, it's possible to adjust the settings but I'm not sure if it's possible for your ISP to do the same on your phone.

    What is teredo?

''In computer networking, Teredo is a transition technology that gives full IPv6 connectivity for IPv6-capable hosts that are on the IPv4 Internet but have no native connection to an IPv6 network. Unlike similar protocols such as 6to4, it can perform its function even from behind network address translation (NAT) devices such as home routers.''

Cannot Connect to Online Services while In-Game

If you can’t join or host an Xbox Live multiplayer game, or you can’t connect to a party chat session, press the
Start button, select Settings > Gaming >
Xbox Networking and check NAT type.
