Connection timed out Minecraft java server

For the past few days I have been trying to join a friends server but every time I try this message pops up. I have tried disabling firewall and win defender but that didn't work, I tried using command prompt and that didn't work, I checked the server status and it was good. I really need help (I use a microsoft account to play minecraft).

Connection timed out Minecraft java server

Hi StoneFur, thanks for reaching out!

It sounds like you are having issues connecting to a Minecraft server due a connection timeout error. I have a few suggestions that may help!

    1. Try rebooting your network. Sounds simple, but perhaps Minecraft cannot connect to the server because of the poor internet connection in your home.

Here is how to reboot your network:
      1. Unplug your modem (and your wireless router, if it’s a separate device) from the power socket.

      2. Wait 60 seconds for your modem (and your wireless router) to cool off.
      3. Plug the network devices back in again and wait until the indicator lights are back to the normal state.
      4. Restart your computer.
      5. Launch Minecraft and check if the Minecraft connection timed out error is resolved.
    1. Double-check that Minecraft is allowed through your Firewall. It is possible that your firewall is blocking Minecraft from accessing your internet, causing it to throw the timeout error message.

Here are the steps to do so:
      1. On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and type Defender Firewall, then click Windows Defender Firewall as it pops up as a match.

      2. Click Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall.

      3. Make sure Minecraft is checked from the list of programs that are allowed to communicate through Windows Defender Firewall.
      4. Restart your PC, then connect Minecraft to a server to see if you can join successfully.
    1. Forward the 25565 Port in Windows Defender Firewall. In order for the game to function properly, you need to make sure the port 25565 on your computer is set to open. You can follow the steps below:
      1. On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and type Defender Firewall, then click Windows Defender Firewall as it pops up as a match.

      2. Click Advanced settings.

      3. In the Window Defender Firewall with Advanced Security window, click Inbound Rules > New Rule.

      4. In the pop-up window, select Port and click Next to proceed.

      5. Select TCP > Specific local ports and type 25565. Then click Next > button to continue.

      6. Choose Allow the connection and click Next >. Then follow the on-screen prompts to save the changes.

      7. Repeat the steps provided to set up the Outbound Rules as well.
      8. Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
    1. Temporarily disable your antivirus software. If you have an antivirus program enabled on your computer, you can try to disable it temporarily to see if it’s the culprit. According to players’ report, some antivirus software can be over-protective and tend to flag other programs as malicious applications even when they’re perfectly legit. Once you have disabled the antivirus software, check Minecraft again to see if it can join the servers without problem.
    1. Switch to a different version of Minecraft. Minecraft releases updates on a regular basis in order to fix bugs and glitches in previous versions. However, sometimes, the newest version may not always work well with the servers. So you can switch to a different version to see if it fixes the issue.

Here is how to do it:
      1. On the Minecraft Launcher, click Installations > New,

      2. In the VERSIONS drop-down menu, choose any other version of the game except the current one and click Create.

      3. The new version will start to download and then added to the installations menu.
      4. Run the new version and check if you can connect to the server.
    I hope these suggestions help!

Is it possible to play with PS4 Minecraft and Java Edition Minecraft together on the same account?

Simply put. No. It is not currently possible to play local multiplayer Java to bedrock Minecraft. (assuming your not running the Minecraft PS4 Edition of Minecraft). Which would still be no. There are plugins for java that allow bedrock clients to connect to java servers but that feature is not on current consoles. Sorry for the inconvenience. Happy gaming!

Minecraft java migration and windows 10 ver.

Hello, Vista1978. Thanks for reaching out! My name is Lucas, and I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user just like you. I'll be happy to assist you today.

The offer you're talking about is this one, right?

    https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/46...

With this offer, you'll get a Minecraft Java and a Minecraft Windows version. I'm not 100% sure but I think you would need the same version on both your son's account for them to play on the same world. Java Edition can't connect to Windows 10 servers and Windows 10 can't connect to Java Edition servers.

I have login in Minecraft but why I can't play any server pls solve this problem

    Hello ERROR 008,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

There are many reasons for not being able to connect to any server in Minecraft. Here are some of the common reasons and their solutions so that you can troubleshoot and solve the problem step by step:

    1. Check if the Minecraft version and the server version match

Make sure that the server you are trying to connect to is compatible with your version of Minecraft. If you are playing Minecraft Java Edition and the server you are trying to connect to is Bedrock Edition (or vice versa), you will not be able to connect.

    Solution:

Make sure you are using the correct version of Minecraft (Java or Bedrock) to connect to the appropriate type of server.

You can check the server's official website or introduction page for information on the versions supported by the server.

    2. Make sure your internet connection is working

Minecraft may not be able to connect to the server due to network problems. When the network is unstable, too slow, or malfunctioning, it may prevent you from connecting to the server.

    Solution:

Make sure your device is connected to a stable network (use a wired connection or make sure the Wi-Fi signal is good).

You can try opening other apps or websites to test the network connection and make sure there are no network interruptions or delays.

    3. Check Minecraft's Firewall or Network Settings

If you are using a firewall or certain network security software, it may be preventing Minecraft from establishing a connection with the server. You can check your firewall settings to see if there are rules that prevent Minecraft from connecting.

    Solution:

Open your firewall settings and make sure that Minecraft or Minecraft Launcher is allowed to connect to the Internet through the firewall.

Make sure that no other internet security software is blocking Minecraft connections.

You can also contact the support staff of the corresponding game to find out why.

    Best regards

    Minecraft bedrock to Java server

Hi Jon. My name is Kyle and I'm an independent advisor.

Minecraft Java does not require Xbox Game Pass, are you trying to connect to a specific Minecraft server?

What happens when you try to join the server? Provide screenshots of any errors or messages you see.

Have you tried connecting to any other servers?

    Thanks,
    Kyle
