Connection or update error?

Can anyone give any information as to why this is happening? Originally we thought it could be a connection error, after checking our wifi connection several times and then moving over to a wired connection it did not solve the issue. We have tried doing
the offline update as suggested but again this has not solved the issue. We are starting to inquire about whether it is a problem on Microsoft's side or ours. This problem has occured for the past three days so if it was a Microsoft issue surly it would be
fixed by now? If anyone can offer any help or solutions please do. Can we please get replies ASAP. Thanks. (The error is the message displayed on the right hand side of the screen).

Also, this is preventing us form playing any kind of games. It keeps saying it needs to update despite the fact that it doesn't. This even occurs on downloaded 360 games.

DESPERATE for help !

for anyone with controller issues, this popped up in tonight's preview update.
A fix to address an issue for users who find their controller will no longer connect via a wireless connection, and only works over USB. If this has occurred to you, after taking this system update, you will be able to connect your controller via a USB cable and wait a few seconds before unplugging it. This will recover your controller and you will be able to connect wirelessly. It is expected that subsequent controller firmware updates will fail. This will be addressed in a later system update.

 

Why can't I play my X1 offline?

Yes, but you'd still have to put the info in to connect to the wireless router, it doesn't just connect on its own. The system has to be receiving an internet connection in order to do an update, let alone know it needs one. Sounds to me that OP had it connected to the internet, started an update, unplugged the console from the internet, but didn't actually stop the update.
