Connection Issues

Hello. I have recently been having some issues with my Xbox Live multiplayer gaming connectivity. In particular, I have not been able to hear anyone in my party chat sessions or in-game chat, but other players are capable of hearing me. I spent much time
troubleshooting these issues and was able to open my NAT by doing some things in the configuration of my router. I was able to assign a MAC address exclusively to my Xbox and opened all the seven necessary ports that Xbox Live requires for a smooth connection.
I have noticed a better connection within multiplayer games (much less lag) such as Halo, but I still can't hear anyone. Sometimes a friend's voice will cut in briefly, but connecting to others in a multiplayer game immediately disconnects their voice input
to me. I'm also having issues sustaining a party with friends when playing. Usually I can play a game or two and then we have to reform the party because we lose connection to each other. I have friends that say they haven't had many issues like this and
I have friends that say they're being pelted with connection problems. I'm not sure how Microsoft can possibly expect everyone to be able to manually go into their modem/router settings and open these ports themselves. I mean, I just don't understand this
at all. Anyways, is anyone else experiencing these same problems? I've contacted customer support and they've walked me through the obvious hardware reboots and basic system maintenance checks (i.e. clearing cache, mac address, deleting/redownloading profile
to console) but when it comes down to the "what's next?" they pawn the problem off onto your ISP (Comcast in my case). My internet has worked fine for years and my router is efficient...so what more can I do?

Anyways, has anyone else experienced anything like this? If so, could you provide some insight into your issues and any methods you've tried that have helped your situation? Thank you in advance.

Hey Mister Beep. My router is a Linksys EA6900 and my modem is an Arris TM822G/CT.

 

Thank you for that information! Do you happen to have more than one Xbox console that has connected to your network, such as an Xbox 360?

 

No, just the one Xbox One. I've somehow managed to get my NAT open as I've said for about a week now and just yesterday, for reasons that elude me, I signed in to find a Strict NAT type in my network settings. I'm really at a loss now.

 

Alright, let's try enabling DMZ for your Xbox One console by following the steps on our

Linksys DMZ post. The post I linked is for a very similar router, so the steps should be very close to the same.

Try that out and post back to let us know how it goes!
