    Connection issues with Xbox Series X/S controller to PC


    To preface this, I've tried many of the more obvious solutions, and none have worked for me so far. I've used an Xbox controller with my PC for some time now (Xbox One Elite) but as that one was beginning to break down I wanted a fresh new controller. I got an Xbox Series X/S controller (the blue sparkly one if that matters), and immediately I realized I didn't have the right cable for it (thanks MS for not including one). I had a couple round the house I've used for other things, but the controller wouldn't work. At all. Searched it up, you apparently need a higher end USB C cable, so I went out, grabbed a high speed USB C cable and boom, it turns on and seems to work. I play for a short period of time, was playing Gears 5, and all of a sudden, pause screen comes up. Buttons wont do anything, its like my controller was unplugged or the battery died, but the light was still on. Keep playing, and it keeps doing this. Figure maybe its just the one game, try a few others, and it continues to happen. Seems like it happens less with smaller/less demanding games, but eventually it always happens. I've tried different ports, unplugging every-other USB device. Try running JUST the game, no discord, no nothing, still happens. Tried updating drivers and the controller its-self using my Xbox, still no fix. Tried un-installing the drivers, re-installing them, same thing. Tried a different controller (still series X/S), and it still happens. I've done everything aside from buying a whole new cable as the first one I bought brand new for more than I would like, and doubling that investment is my last resort If I can help it. Aside from just buying (another) new cable I have no idea what else I can do.

    The Series S and X controllers work on same devices the earlier controller can connect to. This includes:

    Xbox One Game receiver for Windows 10

    Bluetooth (PC, Android, iOS)

    Xbox One, One S, X and Series X/S.

    Hello,

    There isn't a specific adaptor for the Series X/S controllers for PC. The current adaptor works just fine with these newer controllers, however it is now in very short supply. There are third party ones available that do the same thing.

    The Xbox 360 wireless controllers use a different WIFI protocol, they need their own Xbox 360 wireless Gaming Receiver.

    Xbox One and Series X/S controllers can be connected to PC via Bluetooth, but headsets will only work with the Xbox One adaptor (or a third party version), they won't work when the controller is connected via BT

    Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X controllers work on Xbox Series X|S, and vice versa. However, Xbox 360 is on it's own, similar to the OG Xbox.

    What's cool however is if you remote stream Xbox One, One S, One X, Series S, or Series X on, say, a PC, you can plug in a 360 controller and use it on the newer generation.

    But no, newer controllers aren't supported on 360.

    standard xbox one controllers have been replaced with the series s/x controllers that work with all xbox one consoles and the new series s and x and even pc. they are readily in stock all over the uk, try argos.
