Connection issues are costing me my sanity

I post here and now because I literally have no more ideas left. I will try to be as specific as humanly possible because I'm fairly certain that if I hear one more "you should restart your router" suggestion that I may go postal.

It all started a couple of weeks back. Destiny, to be exact. And I still believe now that destiny may be the route of the problem somehow. You know how everyone has been having major connection issues to bungie servers and all that jazz? Well yeah I seemed
to be exempt for such a long time from this. Then suddenly the oddest thing happened to me. I disconnected from Destiny servers. Not just disconnected as the norm was, but rather.. I got an error code which I do not remember the name of, shorty before black
screening for awhile. So I naturally used the dashboard and tried to reconnect. It told me that there was no connection available, as if my network lost connection.

To verify this now, no one on my network has internet issues. It is strictly somewhere between my console, and xbox live. Not the internet itself. Trust me, I have tested this on many occasions. After a while of realizing i couldn't play destiny without
disconnecting and needing to restart my xbox, I moved to other games. Worked for a while, but this problem kept following me to other games.

Basically here is the gist as of now and for awhile: I cannot stay connected to xbox live whenever I am using it to play any sort of open connectivity game to other people. If it is instanced things online (IE: Destiny missions or matchmaking on Halo reach
or something) I have no issue. Or even single player games and netflix/youtube for that matter. It seems strictly accessing live for gaming online with other people. I have literally tried ALL of the basics. I have restarted my router, MULTIPLE times. I have
restored factory defaults on it as well. I have tried such things as putting my console on a DMZ, opening ports, ensuring my NAT type is open, establishing a wired connection, deleting destiny from my xbox, wiping my profile off of my xbox, clearing my cache,
and re-installing system update files all MULTIPLE times. Not a thing has cleared up this issue. My gateway that I have right now was gifted to use a few months before this issue resulted from comcast for free to handle their new internet service (i believe
is named "burst" now, idk) and as far as I am aware, comcast has not changed or done anything involving the service I have now. I don't believe it is a hardware issue with the router (and yes, the firmware is up to date as well. I have checked this). I have
not ever been known to have internet connection issues in general really, unless the weather outside was completely crappy, or there was a clear and physical reason for it being down (IE: power, or comcast having difficulties or something). One thing is rather
peculiar though, everytime I had tampered with the router settings and such it would change the behavior of these disconnections. before now, I used to be unable to reconnect to the internet until I restarted my xbox. Ever since I restored factory settings,
this isn't a thing anymore.

Another point worthy of note, my disconnections are completely sudden and abrupt. It's not a type of disconnection where you seem to "lag out" necessarily, but rather... I'm being kicked suddenly. It seems almost as if my connection to live triggers a shutdown
to that connection stream. Also usually after my first disconnection from destiny and other games, it happens much faster if I try to continue where I left off. If i were to disconnect from destiny after say... 30 minutes of patrol, then re-attempted that
patrol, suddenly I would find it impossible to even get on the planet without a disconnection.

This error in general makes no legitimate sense to me and I am at a complete loss of what to do at this point. I have searched and searched for answers and have managed to not find a single one that has fixed this problem entirely. I figure it MAY (and i
use this term very loosely.. "MAY") be a firewall issue. But once again I will raise the point.... my firewall settings have not changed as of about 3 weeks ago when this happened. they have been the same since I have installed this router literally months
ago. Logically, why would it be an issue suddenly right now? But hey, what do I know. I came here for answers to a question that I don't have one for myself.

I would prefer that if you shot me a response you know to some extent what you are talking about. A simple "clear your cache" sort of thing isn't helpful to me. I want to believe there is a simple fix to this issue because I feel I almost overlooked something
big. Another thing as well, I am not capable of testing my console on another network. It is a literal impossibility right now.

:)

You just saved my sanity! I've had issues for the last couple of days and nothing I tried worked. Your post led me to clearing the cache, and I'm back on. Thanks! Connection issues are costing me my sanity :D

Hey there, have you tried resetting... Ahhhh, just playing with you. This sounds like an absolute doosey and I did see you mention Comcast, which in my experience can be a wide variety of issues (sometimes specifically to the Comcast service). Can you please
fill out the following information which will help the experts around here, I know there is at least one person around here that can help with this (help us Taidara, you're our only hope) I look forward to his response:

What Country/State/Province do you live in?

Modem brand & model number:

Router brand & model number:

How many consoles do you have connected to this router?

Wired or wireless (for each console):

If Wireless, are you using a white or black external adapter, or an internal (Xbox 360S) adapter?

Things you have tried:

Is UPnP Enabled? Yes/no/Unknown

Do you have a NAT error? If so, what is your NAT type?

Any Error Codes you encounter:

Who is your ISP(Internet Service Provider)?

After you run "Test Xbox LIVE connection" press “Y” for "More Info”. In the pop-up that appears, what are the following values, if shown? (If a value below does not appear for you, just leave it blank.)

Thanks for the reply. And I'm glad you have some sort of sense of humor. Here I thought the rumors were true about forum support people being robots Connection issues are costing me my sanity :p

To answer your questions here you go:

New Hampshire,

I can't really at this time tell you the exact router I have, however it's one of the newer comcast gateways. Look at this link really:

customer.comcast.com/.../broadband-gateways-userguides

There are quite a few devices on the same network but either way, it's unlikely it would affect my connection so recently if that were the case.

As mentioned, it does the same thing with the built in xbox slim adaptor, or wired.

I listed everything i tried, lol.

My NAT is open. I've ensured it. I have the port open that needs to be and I've also opened all the others in the past and it didn't do anything notable.

When I get the error code again I'll shoot it to you but I never wrote it down.

Comcast ISP.

Also, I forgot about the Y button thing so here's that form:

W:0000 - 0021

X: 0000 - Foo1

Y: 20A8 - 48E0

Z: 0000 - 0000

ID: FFFF - FFFF

L: 0015 - 10F0

Q: 8015 - 100C

T: Wireless

A: 10.0.0.4/255.255.255.0

G: 10.0.0.1

D: 75.75.75.75, 75.75.76.76

N: Home-5AC7

S: WPA2

C: 11

Hope this clears up something.

Sorry for the late reply!

Would be great if you're able to find out which make and model of wireless gateway that you use.

Can you tell us which of the following features that you've setup, and that are currently running.

Port Forwarding/Virtual Server = On/Off?

DMZ = On/Off?

UPnP = On/Off?

Have you tried to assign your console's MAC address in the DHCP reservation list of your router?

I'm sorry for asking, if you've already mentioned this, but how many consoles (Xbox) do you connect to your router?

Keep us posted!

Recently turned back on my ports and they did nothing as far as port forwarding really.

DMZ? Tried it, also nothing.

I don't think this router supports UPnP, so I did the forwarding in exchange and again, not a working result.

I'll attempt the MAC address thing though, that much is new. My xbox is also the only one on the network. There are various other devices that run off of it (a desktop, few laptops, smartphones usually, roku, etc)

Router make is a TC8305C

Thank you Xhizt!

Lag and intermittent disconnections may occur in the relationship between the Technicolor TC8305C and connectivity to Xbox Live. This behavior is a known issue with the TC8305C, which has been reported by other users, experiencing the very same behavior
as you do.

With this in mind, let's try and see if we can turn this negative behavior into your favour.

I'll run you through a couple of steps here, and if you have any concerns regarding some of these steps, feel free to ask away. Connection issues are costing me my sanity :)

Buckle up!

Start by resetting your console's network settings to factory defaults.

Go to Xbox Network settings and select Configure Network. Select the
Additional settings tab and Restore network settings to factory defaults.

Turn off the Xbox.
Recently turned back on my ports and they did nothing as far as port forwarding really.

DMZ? Tried it, also nothing.
Ok, let's reverse these two settings (if still active) so that both Port Forwarding and, or, DMZ are disabled.

Click Save/Apply.
I don't think this router supports UPnP
The Technicolor TC8305C should support UPnP (Universal Plug and Play). How well the TC8605C implement the UPnP protocol suite, that I can't tell, at least not at this stage of the process.

Access your gateway's web-utility interface.

From the menu, select Advanced.

From the submenu, select Device Discovery.

Make sure UPnP and Zero Configuration is ticked enable.

Click Save/Apply.

From the menu, select Gateway.

From the submenu, select Firewall.

Select Custom, and disable the firewall completely.

Click Save/Apply.

Reboot your TC8305C, and wait for it to connect properly.
I'll attempt the MAC address thing though, that much is new.
Have you been able to figure out how

DHCP reservation works?

Can you also tell me which security mode you've setup for your wireless network.

Post back and let us know how that goes and we'll work from there.

Okay, so here's what's up now Taidara.

I reset the defaults as you stated and toggled off my firewall. To be honest, this issue seemed to be behaving like a firewall issue anyway and I considered it prior to now. I also made the xbox's IP address as a static IP. I haven't given it a full run
yet to see how disconnection will fare in response to these changes however.

To answer your question, my security level was at minimal to begin with on the firewall. It says something along the lines that it blocks the identity port and something called IDS was enabled with that setting. (I'm truly not that well versed in networking,
I know code, not network jargon.) Also be noted that the security type on the password is WPA2 if this is needed information. I'm not sure how it would be relevant but I figure I should just give that out as a freebie. I'll give you a response in a few days
on how this setup fares.
