  1. Connection issue, possible hardware issue?

Over the last 3 or 4 days I have had connection issues. It is affecting my connection to Xbox live and when it's occurring my controller doesn't connect either.

When its happening, always after I turn the console on (from standby) live connects then disconnects cycling every other second. The featured tiles go up then the connect to live message then back to the tiles. If I go to WiFi settings I see my WiFi connect
and disconnect at the same rate.

If I hard cycle the power (a few times) it will fix and I get a solid connection for as long as I'm on.

It's super frustrating and I fear the worse that the WiFi chip in the Xbox is faulty. Has anyone experienced this or have any ideas?

    Best,

    -Jordo

    :)

Disconnecting from Xbox Live while watching Hulu and Netflix

Thanks for replying... yes, I was wired directly to the router. I can try wiring directly to the modem later today and will post what I observe.

I will also say that after having the same problem last night, I decided to try using the wireless connection instead of the wired connection (I figured this could help isolate whether the issue could possible be a hardware issue or specific to the wired
connection somehow). Using the wireless connection resolved the issue - I was able to stay connected to XBL and stream a Netflix movie last night. Does this information help troubleshoot?

I would prefer to keep it on the wired conection if possible, and if it's a hardware issue, I'd want to be able to confirm it and get it reapired on warranty.

    Thanks again!

    cant connect to xbox live

    Hello, CaRvinG iZ Back,

It sounds like it could be as a result of a software issue, but then again a hardware issue.

Is it possible that you can try using a wireless connection? However you may be able to get further assistance by visiting the link.

  4. Connection issue, possible hardware issue?

    Hey ramblingjordan!

I'm sorry to hear about the connection issues. I just have a few questions to ask so that we can try our best to get this issue sorted.

When this issue occurs have you tried to test the network connection in the settings menu? If so does the network test find any errors?

In order to make sure that we are not missing any steps, I would like you to give these following steps a shot.

Please give the following steps a try:

    • Press and hold the power button on your console for 10 seconds.
    • Once your console is powered off, unplug the power cord.
    • Disconnect any third-party headsets (third-party headsets can cause interference).
    • Leave the console unplugged for 5 minutes and plug in your console.
    • Power on your console.
    • Try connecting to Xbox Live.
Let us know how that went and we will be standing by to hear from you!
