    I've been trying to figure out why my Xbox One controller wouldn't connect to my PC via USB A to USB C for months!! I even saw a thread here where there was plenty discussion about the topic. Fear not comrades, for I have discovered the solution. After further research (Google), I have discovered that there are different types of USB cables-- some for charging and some for syncing. Get you a USB A to USB C for syncing and you'll be golden(I bought the Philips Audio/Video Universal USB cable kit)

    Hi Keith, There are two ways to connect an Xbox controller to a PC: with a USB cable or via Bluetooth.

    Connect with a USB cable

    Plug one end of the USB cable into the USB port on your PC.

    Plug the other end of the USB cable into the USB port on your Xbox controller.

    The controller should automatically connect to your PC.

    Connect via Bluetooth

    Make sure your Xbox controller and PC have Bluetooth.
    Activate Bluetooth on your PC.

    Press and hold the pairing button on the Xbox controller for 3 seconds.

    The controller should appear in the list of Bluetooth devices on your PC.

    Select the Xbox controller from the list and click "Connect."

    Play & Charge Kit

    Yes it will. You can connect the controller to your PC via WiFi or Bluetooth and can connect via your plug and charge kit to charge the batteries while you're playing.

    But for playing on PC you don't even need the play and charge kit, you can just connect your controller via micro USB cable to your PC even if your batteries are drained as while connected via USB it wont use batteries.

    The Xbox One Wireless Controller can be used to play Xbox games on your PC when connected via micro-USB cable or a wireless USB adapter. To properly isolate your concern, please provide us the following information:

    • Are you trying to use an Xbox Elite Controller?
    • Are you using a micro-USB or a wireless USB adapter to connect the controller to your PC?
    • Do you receive the same message when using the controller on the Xbox App?
    • Have you installed the drivers for the controllers on your Windows 10 PC?

    In the meantime, we suggest that you connect the controller via Bluetooth by following the steps on this

    When streaming your Xbox One to your W10 PC you can just connect your controller to your PC and play like this. W10 should have the controller drivers ready to go already, just connect your controller via a USB cable or via Bluetooth (Bluetooth is only available

    The Xbox One controller uses a different signal than that of the Xbox360 controller, you can however connect a Micro-USB cable from your controller to your PC after installing the drivers for the Xbox One controller.

    (Windowsphones and Android phones usually use a microUSB which you can also use for your controller)

    Just remember to take out your batteries before connecting it via USB
