Connecting xbox through DVI port

Hey!

In preparation for the project Scorpio launch, I was thinking of getting myself a nice 4K monitor so I would be able to enjoy the consoles full experience. But looking into monitors, most need a DVI connection to be able to function at full capacity.

Which is forcing me to buy a HDMI/DVI convertor cable and I am aware that DVI can only transmit video w/o audio. So I am wondering if connecting a pair of headphones to through the controllers aux port would make me able to hear the audio from the console
while using a monitor connected with DVI.

What? I'm literally getting audio through my DVI port on my pc now.

the only problem with connecting it via HDMI to DVI is that you won't be able to get any sound without connecting optical speakers to your 360 via the optical out or if your monitor has an optical in port.

Hey there buddy,

There are plenty of monitors out there that have HDMI 2.0 with HDCP 2.2. I'm currently using an iiyama Gold Phoenix 28" 4K monitor which has 1 such HDMI port. Works great!

Many of these monitors though may only have 1 of these particular HDMI ports, and out-of-the-box I had to go into the settings of the monitor and change the HDMI input from 1.4 to 2.0 to get it to work properly.

If you want to take full advantage of Scorpio though, I'd recommend holding out until there are more HDR monitors available, or get a 4K HDR TV.
