Connecting Xbox series X controller to windows 10 pc

The Series S and X controllers work on same devices the earlier controller can connect to. This includes:

Xbox One Game receiver for Windows 10

Bluetooth (PC, Android, iOS)

Xbox One, One S, X and Series X/S.

In this case, it wouldn't be a bad idea to update your controller's firmware. You can do this on your Series X or your Windows 10 PC. To do it on the Series X, connect it using the USB cable and then go to Settings > Devices & connections > Accessories, and then select the controller you want to update. On the Xbox Wireless Controller screen, select “…” to check the firmware version for your controller. Then, select the Firmware version square, and then press Next to start the update process.

To do it on Windows 10, just download the Xbox Accessories app from the Microsoft Store. If you already have it installed, just run it. After opening the app, the procedure to update is the same one as on the Series X, press the "..." button and follow those steps.

Check if your controller works correctly after doing this.

Hello there guys, just wanna ask if the Xbox Series X Controller is compatible with the Xbox One Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 ?

Also, is there gonna be a newer version of the wireless adapter for Windows 10 destined for the Series X controller ?

The original XBox Elite controller requires the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 so without that adapter it will not be recognized properly by Windows. The newer, Elite Series 2 can connect to a Windows 10 PC without the need of an adapter.

Here are some steps you can try to get your Xbox Series X controller to work on your Windows 10 desktop PC:

Check for updates: Make sure your Windows 10 operating system is up-to-date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for any updates that may be available.

Install Xbox Accessories app: Make sure you have the Xbox Accessories app installed on your PC. You can download it from the Microsoft Store.

Connect your controller via USB: Connect your Xbox Series X controller to your PC using a USB cable. Make sure the cable is properly connected to both the controller and the PC.

Try a different USB port: Try connecting the controller to a different USB port on your PC. Sometimes, certain USB ports may not work properly.

Check Device Manager: Open Device Manager on your PC and check if the controller is detected. To do this, right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager. Look for any unknown devices or controllers with a yellow triangle icon. If you see any, right-click on them and select Update Driver.
