1. Connecting XBox one to receiver with no hdmi port

I have a tv, cable box with hdmi ports, and a yamaha receiver with no hdmi ports. I have 5.1 surround sound and want to know is there a way to hook the xbox one so that I get surround sound with it. Currently sound only comes out of the tv speakers.

    :)

Can I Direct Connect XboxOne to TV?

That's how you connect an xbox to a tv... am i missing something, how do you normally connect your xbox to the tv?

Make sure your hdmi cable is connected to the OUT port on the xbox one (next to power) and to an IN port on your tv's HDMI port.

    Easy peasy.

Xbox One HDMI Passthrough --> Optical Out

If this has been asked elsewhere, I apologize in advance. I'll be connecting my cable STB to the HDMI in and the out to my TV. From the Xbox One, I'll be using the optical out to my receiver (my receiver doesn't have HDMI ports). So, my question is that
will the HDMI pass-through strip the audio and feed it to the optical out on the Xbox One?

Connecting XBox one to receiver with no hdmi port

If your receiver supports digital optical sound, I would suggest getting an optical cable to run sound to the receiver. I do this with my older Philips receiver.

Like dlCHIEF58 says, connecting Your Xbox One to the reciver with a Optical cable (Tos-link) is the suggested way to go..

I did that with my Xbox One and the difference in sound was clearly noticeable and well Worth it.. But I did need to go into the display and sound settings and enable "Bitstream out" and bitstream format Dolby digital (on my Samsung reciver)for it to give
surround sound... Most Surround sound systems will support Optical audio i belive..

Connecting One to a TV that has no HDMI Inputs
Hi, I'm new here and not sure where or how to post a new chat! I'm having problems with live TV. We have satellite TV but the receiver is in the TV (Samsung) and not a separate box. We have 2 HDMI cables but there is no out HDMI port on the tv to connect
to the in HDMI port on the xbox one to connect the live tv. Is anyone able to help?
Unfortunately there is no way to connect the internal Receiver of the TV to the Xbox One for TV functions,

    .

The HDMI IN on the Xbox One is designed to work with Satellite or Cable TV which involves having a separate box that normally connects to the TV with an HDMI cable.
