Connecting Xbox One to Hotel Internet!!! The Solution is Here!

So, after a little intuitive digging, I finally found the answer to playing you're xbox over a hotel internet connection. I will get to how to do it, but first, let me explain why you might be mislead, so...you know....you can explain it to your friends
and seem cool and all. It's actually not that big of a deal, and if Microsoft would have told us about this by now it would have saved a lot of people who travel but love to play video games a lot of time. But anyways:

MAC Address Spoofing Error:

So, if you are looking for this thread then you have probably already tried spoofing your Xbox One's MAC Address. Doing this the correct way is actually not as easy at it has been made to seem. What I discovered is that when you spoof you're MAC address,
most of the time the only way you can really do it is to log into the hotel internet via a separate device (i.e. a cell phone or a laptop) to get past the log in page, then go into your setttings>network settings>manage wireless networks>advanced settings
and change the MAC address of your Xbox One to that of the device you logged in with. This will then allow your Xbox to connect to the hotel's internet. I have been using a program for my PC which lets me set my computer's wireless MAC address to whatever
I want it to, as long as it starts with the first two characters 02. This is a limitation set by Microsoft on windows 7 and up. So I set the address on my xbox one to that of my computer after logging into the internet from my computer, then change my computer's
MAC address so that it doesn't conflict with the xbox while it is on the same network. Like most people, when I do this, I can access Xbox Live, and do things like use basically any app that doesn't require the multiplayer services. However, when I try to
play a game, it tells me I dont have an internet connection so I can't play (i.e. Destiny, NBA 2k15, etc). This happens for a simple reason. The Xbox One's all have specific MAC addresses which have been set by Microsoft, and only certain types of addresses
where the first six hex characers (XX-XX-XX) of the address match to what are recognized as Xbox Ones can access the multiplayer services, for saftey and hacker reasons I presume. So, what you will need to do is, instead of matching the Xone MAC address to
that of another device after logging it in, you instead need to match the device to the Xone's original Wireless MAC Address, log in on that separate device, disconnect it from the wifi, and then connect you're Xbox One to that network.

But Garrett...didn't you say you have to use the first two characters of "02" if you change you're PC's MAC address?

How to Properly Connect:

Unless you can hack you're PC to give you superuser privalages and allow you to set the MAC address to whatever you want (assuming you're using a windows based OS, I have no Idea about Macs and apple products), what you will need to do is change the MAC
address on youre smartphone to match the original Wireless MAC address of your Xone. These next steps are going to be shortened due to the fact that I don't feel like typing out all of the instructions to rooting phones. So, if you have an android, then you
will need to root your phone in order to change the MAC address. Be forewarned that this can break your warranty agreement. But anyways, root that sucker. Youtube can be you're guide to doing this. Then, you will want to download an app called BusyBox from
the Play Store. Then download an App called MacChanger from the Play Store. This will allow you to set your cell phones MAC address to that of your Xone. Log on to the wifi, disconnect the phone from the wifi and reset the MAC address to its default, and the
try and connect your Xbox One to the Wifi. Viola, Multiplayer Access. You're Welcome.

Internet works, Xbox Live doesn't. Help requested.

Hey I'm staying in a hotel and I'm having problems connecting to xbox live. It shows I have internet but once it gets to xbox live connection it fails. I can't physically get to the router so any other solutions would be helpful

Hello im having trouble connecting to internet. I travel and just got xbox 1 so I stay in a hotel alot. The problem im having is that I have to accept terms and conditions before the hotel wifi gives me internet access. I canonly accept thru internet browser
which xbox wont allow me to have access to without internet access first.

 

If you are like me and have a phone where you cannot change the MAC address. I had to use my pic and an Ethernet cable. By connecting my laptop wirelessly to the hotel wifi and bridging my wifi and Ethernet connections in windows 7 I was then able to just
connect my Xbox one with an Ethernet cable to the laptop. This did give me a moderate mat however.
