Connecting Xbox and PC

I recently found out how to use the 'play to' option on my PC to stream it straight to my xbox, only problem is, they wont stay connected, i have to search for a new device and pair the two everytime i want to use it, is there a way to get them to stay connected?

Xbox One will show my External HD in storage but when selected it tells me "No Devices Found"

Hi, try formatting the hard drive on your PC and then connecting it to the Xbox, Ensure you use a windows based PC.

Personally I would download a media server to your PC, Universal Media Server is my preferred option
sourceforge.net/.../unimediaserver, and then grab the Media Player app from the Store.

This will let you browse your media on your One without having to jump back to your PC in order to play new content.

^ I would probably find an alternative download link to that seeing as sourceforge has started dumping malware into program downloads.

First I've heard of that Bon3 but here is a zippyshare link to the version I have installed on my PC

Uploaded myself so I know it is clean.

I've grabbed a fair few things from sourceforge and never had a problem.

Are you trying to connect your xbox to the pc or the pc to your tv?

Simply connect the console to a PC via a bridged connection, and then just connect the PC to the internet.

The reason this works is because your Xbox is using your PC as a proxy to connect to the LAN. Basically, all the router sees is your PC connecting, even though it is your Xbox using the internet.

You can stream games from the Xbox One to PC using the Xbox app on your PC. It can be a wired Ethernet connection or a wireless connection. Xbox app connects your PC with your Xbox One.

I had a similar problem, I solved it by changing how my pc was connected to the network.

If the xbox is connected using wifi and the pc is connected using
wifi if works.
If the xbox is connected using wifi and the pc is connected using
lan the xbox does not show on the pc.
If the xbox is connected using wifi and the pc is connected using both
wifi and lan the pc can initiate a connection to the xbox, but the xbox is stuck on a screen saying the pc is about to project.

I'm not sure if the wireless display standard requires both devices to be connected to wifi or if this was just pure coincidence, and has more to with the ip-addresses and subnets used on different networks?

Streaming the opposite way around (form the xbox to the pc) works in all configurations.
