Connecting Xbox 360 E to monitor using a HDMI to VGA adapter?

Hi,

I'm planning on connecting my Xbox 360 E console to my monitor using an HDMI to VGA adapter, found here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00879DM56/

I've looked up a lot of stuff online about if this is gonna work or not. I've heard about how it can't do digital to analog and stuff like that.

I don't have any issues with sound because I will use the 3.5mm output on the back of the console to connect some speakers.

Do you know if this adapter will properly output 1080p signal to my monitor? It's resolution is 1920x1080 and can support 1080p.

If this cable isn't going to work, please link me to some other ones that you know will work. I don't want to be buying this stuff off amazon to realize it's not displaying my xbox correctly or at all.

Also, if VGA isn't an option, I can use an HDMI to DVI adapter, since my monitor also has a DVI port, though I'd rather not because that's the port my actual computer uses, and I'd rather switch from computer to xbox using the source button instead of unplug
and plug in each device.

Also, remember I have the E console, so the standard Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable will not support it.

Question about Outputs...

Ok, I'm currently using a Viewsonic monitor that only runs on VGA or DVI. I have a VGA power cord from Microsoft that I use for Xbox 360. Should I just go buy an HDMI monitor for Xbox One? Or should I stick with this one and buy a HDMI to VGA converter?

Where will you be putting The Big O at?

In the same spot my 360 is currently on, right under the TV. The 360 will join the Dreamcast next to the PC, connected to my monitor with a vga or hdmi cable

I use the exact same model of this with my Xbox One to my Dell projector and have no issues. It should work fine on your 360 as well. As long as you have the sound covered (which it sounds like you do), you will be good to go with that adapter.

The only issue you may have is with playing DVDs or certain streaming movies that have HDCP - it won't let you play those due to the copyright protection. I am unable to play BluRay disc or watch the Halo series on my Xbox One because of this, and I am sure
it also applies to the 360. But it will not affect games.

I don't play movies or stream on my Xbox anyways. I could do that on my computer.

Silly question, but would the copyright protection apply to anything in GTA V, such as cutscenes or stuff?

No, it only applies to movies that have HDCP. That means almost all BluRays, some DVDs, and some Netflix content are affected by this. I found this out the first time I tried to play a BluRay movie, then ran into it again when I tried to watch the Halo
series that comes with Halo MCC - and I was NOT happy that I could not watch content I paid for because of this.

Seeing that the Xbox 360 works on a TV using the HDMI cable, then the issue is most likely the VGA/HDMI adapter or even the monitor. It's safe to assume that the Xbox 360 and the HDMI cable are fine.

The only way to figure out if the issue is with the monitor or adapter is to try the setup on a different monitor similar to yours or try a different adapter on your monitor.

If you have a standalone VGA cable, connect that directly to the monitor, and locate a VGA to HDMI adapter to plug the VGA cable into the adapter and then plug the HDMI side into the console. That would be the only other way to connect your Xbox 360 to a
monitor.

There are HDMI to DVI cables. There are digital audio to analog audio adapters. There are also VGA cables for 360s that have an AV port (the 360 E does
not).

Hello LivelyComa62, first of all, Happy New Year!!! ^^

To connect your Xbox one on a pc screen you need to have a HDMI cable and a monitor with a HDMI. If your monitor doesn`t have a HDMI port you can use an adapter HDMI to DVI or HDMI to VGA and connect the Xbox to the adapter and the adapter to the monitor.

In order to connect a monitor to your Xbox 360 you will need an Xbox 360 VGA HD adapter or if your monitor has Hdmi a HDMI cable. Depending on your monitor you may need to setup a headset or speakers for sound but alot of monitors nowadays come either I
