Connecting XB1 to shared laptop wifi

Hi all,

Im using a program called My Wifi Hotspot to share the internet from my laptop, but my XB1 does not seem to see the wireless connection. I am able to connect to the wifi hotspot through my iPhone but it shows a device rather than a network. Can anyone suggest
how I can connect my XB1 to the shared wifi, is there a reason that it is not seeing the connection?

I mean if the laptop is using wifi would it be redundant to use an ethernet chord???

Supposedly you are supposed to be able to connect using your cell phone but I have never had a need to do this so I am not sure if you are running into some kind of firewall or anything.

I'm wondering why you need to use your laptop as a connection point? Do have a modem with a single ethernet connection and are using your Laptop as a Wifi router?

Might have better luck trying a different program. Virtual Router Plus, My Wifi Router, It's also possible to create a Wifi hotstop under Windows 7&8 without any extra programs.

 

The laptop is connected via Ethernet to my router. The aim of connecting via my laptops wifi is to enable me to access a greater selection on Netflix.

Does the Xbox One actually allow connections via ad-hoc wireless networks?
