  1. Connecting via win10 pc (streaming) kills xbox one download speed

I have tested this multiple times and its completely repeatable. When downloading a game like gta5 or gears of war 4, i typically get 70-80Mbps transfer speeds. As soon as I click the button on my PC connect to my xbox one, the transfer speed of the game
download immediately drops to 1.3Mbps and sits there. Its amazing how consistent it is, its not just that the streaming is using additional bandwidth as its just sitting there on the dashboard doing nothing else and there is no way that is taking up the entire
bandwidth of the connection. There is definitely something wrong with how this works. As soon as I click stop streaming, the transfer speed of the game download goes back up to 80Mbps.

Its done this ever since I had the xbox which is well over a year now. Ive tried changing out all the network cables and hardware (switches, router, etc) and nothing makes any difference. Does anyone else see this too? Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    :)

Slow Game/App downloads when streaming to PC

My games/apps seem to download extremely slowly (less than 1Mb/s) when there is much higher bandwidth available (confirmed via Detailed Network Settings) when I am connected to my Xbox from my PC via streaming.

As soon as I disconnect, the downloads speed up to the expected speed.

Any suggestions - other than disconnect from PC streaming when downloading?

I have rebooted my router & Xbox and performed all the usual troubleshooting steps.

  3. slow speeds on Xbox Live

My download speed is at least 20MBPS through my lap top (using wireless). However I still have problems streaming tv through my Xbox (iPlayer, Sky, Netflix). My Internet Provider tells me that when streaming through Xbox my speeds are only about 4 - 6MBPS.

    Why is this?

My Xbox is connected to router via ethernet cable.

I have cleared cache memory and followed everything here
    http://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-live/connecting/performance.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Cheers

    Hey there!

It's not just a case of the download speed, it's to do with the latency of the streaming connection. Because of the nature of how packets queue and things like that, to get a really low latency between the Xbox and PC, the speed has to be limited. When you're
downloading, it doesn't matter too much about latency. When you're game streaming though, it matters a lot. That's why the console will limit the connection speed when streaming.

I also have a Steam Link, and you can set that to "unlimited bandwidth" for streaming games from the PC, when you use that setting however, not only is there a warning to tell you that the latency will increase, but when I've used it, there is a horrible
delay between input and movement on the screen.

The best thing to do is not to use the game streaming feature if you are downloading and are in a hurry for that download to complete.

    Hope that all makes sense!

  5. I really dont know if that makes sense or not but even if that actually is the case, there really should be something that explains this or indicates that download speeds will be limited while streaming is active. I spent a year troubleshooting this and
dealing with the slowness as i stream almost 100% of the time as my xbox is connected to a projector that I cannot use during the day due to lighting issues. Thanks for the response though.

It should really be fixed. I discovered this today. Having a stutter/glitch in Halo5 and Overwatch - after ruling out everything I could, decided to delete Halo5 and reinstall - took several hours today. With the app off, download speed was 60-80 Mbps
    - with the app on, dropped to 1.31 Mbps - VERY consistent. Latency of the connection shouldn't be affected by this, sounds like a resource issue with the CPU and writing to the HDD.

Xbox One X will no longer stream games to W10 PC

if you mean direct streaming from xbox--> PC you have to connect your PC through the Win10 xbox app under "connect to your xbox one"

Poor streaming on xbox companion app

    Hi,

The recommended option is to connect the laptop to the router via Ethernet. If that isn't possible consider looking at your router's QoS (Quality of Service) settings which should help with home streaming.

There is some confusion about how this works, please note that streaming Xbox to a PC via the companion app uses your home network. Your internet connection speed (download and upload) has zero bearing on how well the streaming works.

    Things that affect streaming:

    Distance

    Walls

    Other networks

    Your router settings.
