Connecting via HDMI & Optical cable question

Is it possible to run an optical cable and a hdmi cable from my xbox one to my receiver without causing any conflicts?

I assume, to use the Optical Cable, I would go into sound preferences, and choose optical connection, which would eliminate the HDMI from doing audio, and only video?



Basically, with the game Rocksmith 2014, they recommend running HDMI from TV to my Xbox One, and using Optical for audio to my receiver. As this wont work, because I have an apple tv plugged into the receiver, and having my tv plugged into my xbox
one, opposed to how I currently have it, connected to receiver, won't work.

360 Slim audio out question

I have just purchased the new 360 slim. I am connecting the HDMI to the TV for video and i have an optical cable from the optical out on the 360 going to my 5.1 amp. The issue is that the audio is going to both the TV via the HDMI and the amp via the optical
cable. I just cant find a setting anywhere on the 360 to tell it to output to one or the other. How can i stop it from outputting the audio via the HDMI when i have my 5.1 amp on?

 

Headset/chat question that needs answering

I have a Tritton AX 720 headset that I use for my Xbox One (plugged into the rear optical audio port). However, to receive chat audio that will allow me to talk too, it needs to be plugged into the controller via a cable.

My question is: if I get the Xbox One stereo headset adapter and connect the headset to it, will I still be able to get game audio via the optical cable? Or will it be forced into stereo mode because it's plugged into the adapter?
