Connecting to Xbox Live takes so long

Since updating to the new dashboard, I get the "signing in" spinning wheel, but it always takes at least 1 1/2 to 2 minutes to log in. Is this normal? Never used to take this long before - it was instant. Once connected everything streams just fine - it's
just the initial log in - Anyone else experiencing this?

Ok. Reformatted the hard drive, and it's still quick to log in. I originally only had GTA V installed on the 120 GB hard drive, so instead of installing that, I installed both discs of Mass Effect 2 (which takes up more space than GTA V), and I had no
issues with logging in. I'm now reinstalling GTA V to see if the issue comes back. If GTA V is the culprit, I'll switch to their help forums.

Sorry to hear it. It could be an issue with the cache. Please try power cycling the console by holding the power button on it for 10 seconds until it shuts down then unplug and let sit for 5 minutes. Hopefully that should solve the issue.

Thank you very much - this did the trick!

I've also been having problems with all my controllers (including the Elite) disconnecting in certain games. I'm hoping that will solve that problem too! Cheers

Hi there Deafening,

Even if you're using a Gateway device that combines router/modem, I would still definitely recommend trying out the Steps that MGA suggested. Just disconnect your gateway device for 10 minutes and then try the clear cache.

Please let us know if you're able to give that a shot and how everything goes.

sounds to me like you need to power cycle your router and modem to do this unplug modem and router, wait 5 mins then plug router back in, then wait 4 mins, and plug router in wait till appropriate lights come back on and fire up your xbox and sign in once
signed in do this:

support.xbox.com/.../clear-system-cache

this will do standard maintenance on your xbox and remove files you dont need, it will not erase any of your save data, it is recommended to do system cache at least once a week, hopefully this speeds things up for you. if not let me know.
