Connecting to live with cord

For some reason a few days ago my xbox one stopped connecting to xbox live with an ethernet cord connecting it straight to my router. it gives me a message saying 'DNS cant get the Xbox server names'. The annoying part is that if i unplug the ethernet cord,
letting the wifi kick in, the wifi works, but has trouble loading a youtube video even though the router is in the same room as the console. Ive tried restarting and unplugging both the router and console multiple times and still get the message about DNS
stuff not working with the ethernet plugged in. If someone that knows more about it kknows whats going on please help me out. Im not very good with this stuff and along with how suddenrly it happened, i dont really know how to fix it.

When you say "phone cord" do you mean Ethernet cord? Phone cord is not the same as an Ethernet cord. There are two ways to set up a connection with the Xbox through a computer. ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) and bridge connection. I suggest you try create
a network bridge connection.
Here's how! If you have a personal firewall on your computer (e.g. McAfee, Zone, F-Secure etc.) try enable those ports in your personal firewall that your console uses to communicate with Xbox LIVE.

Hi,

Could you provide the make and model of your router, along with make/model of your modem (if this is not a single unit).

Go ahead and clear your console's IP settings, under Advanced network settings > Alternate MAC address > Clear.

Press and hold the power button on front of your console for 10 seconds.

Unplug the power cord from your console for one minute and power it back on.

I would also recommend you to try with a different Ethernet cable, along with different LAN port on your router.

Let us know how that goes and we'll work from there.

 

My router is the one that comcast gave me when i signed up with them.
