connecting to computer monitor without sound

What monitor?



You'll need the HDMI AV kit (the original one) that comes with a thin AV adapter. The AV adapter provides audio. You'll also need an HDMI to DVI adapter or an HDMI to DVI cable.



On a PS3, you'll need an HDMI to DVI cable and the multi AV cable that comes with the console for audio.



What monitor you have matters. While the 360 supports many popular monitor resolutions and will work for games without HDCP, the PS3 only supports HDTV standards and requires HDCP.

What exactly have you plugged your console into?

My guess is you've not connected it to the computer, but rather the PC monitor. Am I right?

If it's the monitor then it likely won't have built in speakers, most don't. If your monitor has no speakers you'll need an adapter and a set of speakers to output sound.

Please try to connect your computer to that monitor to see if the monitor is faulty

the only problem with connecting it via HDMI to DVI is that you won't be able to get any sound without connecting optical speakers to your 360 via the optical out or if your monitor has an optical in port.

The one on mine works just fine. If one does crap itself, you can buy several for the price of a name brand.
