Connecting to a friend on the same network.

Need some help here. My friend and I are both living in a college apartment and we both have our Xbox One set up. We had to connect to Xbox Live using the alternate MAC address. We can play on Xbox live, however, when we try to play together or invite
each other to a party we get a connection error. Is there anything we can do to solve this issue so we can play together? Thanks in advance.

Connecting 2 Xboxes on the Same Network

To try and resolve this without purchasing a new router, first connect both your consoles via Ethernet cable. Perform a factory reset on you router. Without doing anything else, go into the router and turn on UPnP. Power cycle your router (leave disconnected
from power for at least 30 seconds). Power up your router. Boot up one Xbox. Before signing in, go to the network settings and do a factory reset on your Ethernet NIC (this will be under additional settings once you access the NIC configuration page). Once
NIC reset has been performed, sign in and run the connection test. If you don't see a message about limited Xbox Live content, start up the second Xbox and do the exact same thing. Post if you have additional problems and include more detail about your issue
(exact behavior, game being played, etc).

 

Connecting 2 Xboxes on the Same Network

Not all routers can do it.

I know for a fact that my d-link can connect two 360's both with open NAT.
