Connecting my xbox to a computer monitor...

I am having trouble connecting my xbox to my computer monitor, i have tried connecting it with just the standard xbxo VGA cable and this fitting here-

51S98sh7Q2L._SL1500_.jpg but it doesn't seem to work. I was just wondering if you need to buy a VGA to D-sub specifically for the xbox 360? Any help would be much
appreciated

What monitor?



You'll need the HDMI AV kit (the original one) that comes with a thin AV adapter. The AV adapter provides audio. You'll also need an HDMI to DVI adapter or an HDMI to DVI cable.



On a PS3, you'll need an HDMI to DVI cable and the multi AV cable that comes with the console for audio.



What monitor you have matters. While the 360 supports many popular monitor resolutions and will work for games without HDCP, the PS3 only supports HDTV standards and requires HDCP.

I was wanting to know the cheapest and easiest way to connect my xbox elite to a pc monitor. The monitor only has the one dvi port on the back. . Any suggestions?





And I know this is an "Xbox" forum but I also have a PS3 that I occasionally use. I was wondering if this could be hooked up the same way....?

 

Hey mate, so the monitor only has the VGA input and not a HDMI?

If only the VGA, then this is the only cable I've known that works and I personally own it too:

Thanks, yeah its only got the one VGA input. So do you think it is probably just the cable that isn't compatible with my xbox?

 

If it's the cable that you posted the picture of, then I don't believe that will work at all. Definitely needs to be like the one I posted in the link. When I was looking into it (a long time ago now), there wasn't even any third party cables, things may
have changed though.

I say stick to the official products though as third party ones are known to have issues more often then not.
