Connecting my Xbox 360 controller to Windows 8 laptop.

I've been having troubles connecting my wired 360 controller to my laptop, I followed all the instructions on the support page however my controller did not appear in joy.cpl. I tried to contact actual xbox support but I literally couldn't type my first
or last name into the information bar, even after switching browsers. This is extremely frustrating that their support nor their controller actually work. Any help at all would be great, thank you.

Windows 8 connecting to Xbox Live through laptop

I am having a big problem of connecting my xbox live account through my laptop. i use to be able to before i updated my laptop to windows 8 but now i wont connect. I am very frustrated and perplexed because the day before i had windows 7 and it worked but
now that i have windows 8 it wont connect to xbox live . I need help Please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No more Xbox 360 Smartglass for Win 8?

Did Microsoft remove Xbox 360 Smartglass from the Windows app store? I was trying to sync my family's Xbox 360 to an HP Windows 8 laptop but I was unable to find the Smartglass app for Xbox 360.

just to be sure, you are talkiing about a Wired Xbox 360 controller? (And not using a play & charge cable)

Oh, I don't know the name but it might be the play and charge one because I can attach and detach the cable from it. Will I have to get a separate wired controller instead?

For wireless Xbox 360 controllers, you cannot use the charging cable to connect to a PC (it only transfers power, not data). To use the controller with a PC, you will either need an "Xbox 360 controller for Windows" (non-detachable cable) or use your existing
wireless controller with the wireless gaming receiver for Windows.

This is the wireless adapter you could use:
support.xbox.com/.../xbox-360-wireless-gaming-receiver-windows
