Connecting my Headset with my XBox

So... I got myself a used XBox One this month and so far I could figure out most things without the user manual, because sadly that thing wasnt included in the deal.

But one thing that just doesnt want to work is my headset... I tryed everything I could think of

and google doesnt help either.

Every time I try to use it, the audio keeps coming out of my normal speakers...

All I want is playing my game without disturbing someone who sleeps in the same room. I dont even care anymore if I can or can not use the voice chat in monster hunter! (of which I dont even know if I could use it at all without buying that gold crap...)

So please, if someone could tell me what I do wrong, I would be so thankfull! ( ; _ ; )

Probably the update on my control came with error.

version firmware: 3.1.1221.0 update joystick

 

Xbox Elite Controller Cannot Connect to Headset

My headset stopped connecting to my Xbox Elite controllers (I have two). That is, no sound comes through my headset, nor does the mic work. If I plug the headset into any of my other controllers, the headset works just fine. The headset worked just fine
with my Elites up until yesterday so that was like 5 days of working just fine.

If anyone has any troubleshooting suggestions, I'm all ears!
