connecting Android phone to xbox

Had to get a new phone, reinstall the app, etc.... Had my old phone for multiple years with the app being connected to my xbox. Now trying to connect my Xbox to the app on the current phone and absolutely nothing is working. The two options that are given, when I open the app, is to either add a new device or add an existing device.

New device asks for a device code. I don't have it and can't find it anywhere. And before anyone posts the infamous, "If you're connected to the same network, your code should pop up etc...." Both devices (phone and console) are on the same network and absolutely nothing pops up on either device.

Add an existing device tells me turn on and log into my console. I do that and still, absolutely zero response from either device.

You Google this issue and there are hundreds of posts on this exact problem. This is not a good sign. Something needs to change with the connection process or Microsoft needs to change how the devices communicate inside the app. When I set this up on my old phone a couple years ago I don't remember it being this difficult at all.

How are people solving this issue? I'm seeing a lot of responses from community members and official Microsoft team members, yet not a single one of the posts do I actually see a reply stating that the given solutions are actually solving the problem.

Hi Mavvrik,

You mentioned that you're having issues connecting your Android device to your Xbox console, even on the same network. There is another forum post with a similar issue where the app wouldn't load and connect on the same network and they were able to uninstall Microsoft Authenticator and then it worked for them. Recommend trying that as it's solved someone else's problem first.

So I have this issue constantly with connecting the app to phone. Ive never had it connect straight away. I either have to turn console on then off again for it to connect. Or I have to shut down my phone and restart it again. No code ever pops up so dont look for that. It does work but you have to keep trying I havent found the direct connection method yet.

It does not, but the Xbox One x controller does and can be used to connect with an Android phone for use with mobile gaming you just use the sync button on the controller to connect with your phone.
