    Connecting (and reconnecting) to BT Openzone in the UK.


    I'm starting this mostly out of spite. There are myriad threads discussing how hard it is to connect to BT Openzone in the UK and they've all been locked without resolution.

    The core problem appears to be that you cannot launch Edge to log in because Edge looks for a 'full' internet connection before launching and without launching, you can't create said connection. Without logging in, you can't create a full internet connection. Catch 22. Playstation users have every right to mock us for this absurdity.

    I have had to use various tricks to get the authentication window to open but tonight they have all failed. BT sever the connection every 24 hours, to the minute. That's not cool. So I have to deploy these tricks to reconnect. My base solution is to wait for the connection to test the NAT type and then hit 'test connection' which seems to prompt the login authentication window.

    I'm happy to concede BT may be at fault with their antiquated login system but as this issue has been extant for at least 6 years and PlayStation users don't appear to suffer from it, I refuse to acknowledge that Microsoft are blameless.

    We want to use your service. We're paying to use your service. Please fix this nonsense so we can get back to doing what we love and PLEASE talk to BT to find a resolution... if you can find the time to do so whilst trying to deliver a new console that scalpers have hijacked because you couldn't meet demand.

    Also, when you connect to the BT Openzone wifi, you go to their website , do you have a VPN to login to after that or do you just login to BT Openzone with your details and then you are browsing the net?

    Sorry I didn't update a lot sooner but ever since the new Xbox One experience I'm able to play games online now. So I can now do everything through BT Openzone as if I was connect to a BT hub lol. And the login required is now every 4 hours so double the
    time before you have to reconnect again

    Hiya. I know this is an old thread but it can be done. Is a bit of pain but it only takes a few minutes.

    Firstly it works best with a laptop sharing it's wifi connection. This can be done with a program called mypublicwifi. It's free, just google it. Once you have you're xbox one sharing the connection with the laptop, open up the internet browser on the xbox
    one. Wait for it to load and then go back to the main xbox screen. Open up your network settings and connect to bt openzone. As soon as it says connecting head back to internet explorer. Refresh the page and it should come up with the sign in page for bt openzone.
    Sign in and voila. Unfortunately, this has to be done every few times you log on to the xbox. After a bit of practice I can do it quite quick. Hope this helps.
