Connecting an Xbox One to XBL through Hotel Internet

I've seen this topic in a few places, but none seem to really be answered. Also, I'm trying to do this through a wired internet connection, if it makes a difference.

Goal: I am trying to connect to XBL and the EA Servers to play Madden 15 Ultimate Team, but just against the CPU (I know the internet isn't nearly fast enough for actual games). I have to connect to the EA Servers though to access MUT.

Background: At first I tried to connect to the internet wirelessly. I did this by following some instructions I read about "spoofing" my X1's MAC Address so that the Hotel internet thinks it is my Laptop. This allowed me to get online and connect to XBL.
I can see my friends online, I haven't tried any Apps but I think I can use those, etc. But, when I tried to connect to the EA Servers I'd get an error.

So, I went out and bought an Ethernet cable and tried to hookup up my X1 directly though the outlet in the wall. I was able to get online again, but when I tried the EA Servers I'd get a messaged that they were unavailable. I'm not sure if this was something
on EA's part or mine. I tried to search for a game in Peggle 2 or Halo: Spartan **** (I didn't bring any discs but Madden with me). I was able to search, but I didn't find anyone. I'm not sure if this was an issue with the internet, or just no one was one
    (it was like 7:30am EST).

In the Network settings my NAT is listed as OPEN but when I test my connection I get a message that I can not connect to the DHCP Server.

Does anyone have any idea how I might be able to resolve this issue?

I was told that if I ask for a router at the front lobby, they may give me one. Then, I guess, running the xbox through the router will make it work? Idk.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    :)

Xbox Live and hotel Wi-Fi via Ethernet?

I need to find a way to connect my Xbox 360 to the Wi-Fi at hotels, considering I go to one almost every month. I have a game review due by thursday and I need to get this internet working. The issue is, hotels usually take you to a website where you have to log in on a website to connect to the Wi-Fi. This makes the Xbox Live connection impossible if you're doing it through Wi-Fi....

But what if I logged into the Wi-Fi on my laptop and connected my Xbox 360 to the laptop via Ethernet Cable. I have Windows 7 so I'm guessing there's some Microsoft internet sharing option that's compatible with other Microsoft products.... right?

xbox one live hotel network WiFi connection

Hi all..after connecting my xbox one to the internet with my hotel network through using the MAC address of my phone, i cannot connect to the wifi via my phone anymore. Any way to bypass this and get wifi access on my phone again instead?

What you tried with the wireless connection and the spoofing of your laptops MAC address is the procedure usually used für this. But even if it may be possible that you are able to connect to xbl, it may not be possible to connect to any ea servers as you
may have no chance of configuring portforwarding. So if any other user at this hotel tries to do the same you may block each other f. e. On the other hand especially the EA servers had some downtime lately.

I guess on the wired connection you also spoofed the MAC address. Usually if you spoofed it correctly, the box doesn't need a DHCP server to obtain an IP address as you should configure that manually. So if you get an error on that, you may not have configured
the network settings of the One completely. It's not enough to have the MAC address entered, you also need to copy the IP settings of your laptop. I. E. IP address, subnet mask and gateway. You may use a public DNS server like 8.8.8.8 by Google.

If that doesn't work try to get a router of they offer this and see if this works better for you.

I checked the IP address and everything of my X1 and it matches my laptop exactly. They gave my free access to the "premium" wifi now though. Doubled speeds! 3down...

On the premium wifi, it says NAT is moderate, but I pass both the Network and Multiplayer connection tests, but can't get on the EA Server

On the regular the NAT is open, I pass both tests, but have the same issue.

It also looks like it wasn't a wired connection that was working before, it was still the wireless bi can't get the wired internet working on my laptop, work laptop or X1.

Maybe running the wired connection from my laptop to X1 would work?

I'm not sure if this is the internet, an X1 setting, or EA that's causing this.

Here's an update, in case anyone is in this same situation later...

I used my laptop to receive the Wifi connection, and then sent a wired internet connection from my laptop to my Xbox. I used two methods that both worked with varying success. (If you google something like "Connecting my Xbox to the internet through my laptop"
you'll find a Microsoft.com article that lays all of this out).

    1) Create a bridge between the Wireless and Wired ports on your laptop, then connect your X1 to your laptop. This got me on, but the EA Servers were very spotty. I kept getting DC'd.

    2) Turn on network sharing from your wireless connection, then connect your X1 to your laptop. This worked much better, and I never dropped. BUT this seems pretty sketchy on a hotel public network. I'm not sure if I am going to use it.

It looks like, based on my situations and others I've read, the X1 doesn't connect to multiplayer gaming correctly when you are connected on a wireless network using an Alt MAC Address. I am on Live, but no EA servers with this method.

Thxs for your feedback on that! Really looks like there is a problem with spoofing the MAC address and then play online with the WiFi connection.

Microsoft should do something about this problem. I can't use my laptop to connect due to the screen busting on my trip. Also nearly every hotel now has the special guest user page. So now I'm stuck here playing campaign mode on Wolfenstine and Battlefield
for the 30th time. Microsoft must not care to much about their hotel players. Connecting an Xbox One to XBL through Hotel Internet :(

  9. Just chiming in to say this issue STILL is not resolved after 8 months and as a frequent traveler this has just cost Microsoft a customer, I am incredibly unhappy about this. I usually love Microsoft and their products but the Xbox one has just been a big
    disappointment. :-(
