Connected to free hotel wifi, but Xbox Live won't connect.

Hi. So, my Xbox One won't connect to Live. I'm staying at a hotel for the weekend, and it has free wifi. My phone is connected to it now, and I'm having no problems. But with my Xbox... yeah. It says I'm connected to the network, when I try testing
the connection. No problems. But when I try multiplayer connection, it's not working. The NAT Type is Open, but the Service Info is unavailable.

Mac to xbox through ethernet

I am staying in a hotel and i travel a lot. Just purchased an Xbox 360 and the built in wifi will not connect because of the security on the wifi at the hotel. I hooked up an ethernet cable to my mac and xbox with my mac connected to wifi. I went through
the videos on youtube on how to bridge the connection. Every time i plug the ethernet cable into my computer the wifi on my computer stops working. My airport says full connection but it doesnt load any pages and i still cannot connect to xbox live.

Any ideas?

Greetings,

Your console is actually connected to the Live services, but can't establish peer communication.

There're multiple of solutions to work around this problem, but I'll inform you of the two most simple of ways.

Ask the service desk at your hotel if they're able to "whitelist" your Xbox One's MAC/physical address. This method requires that an engineer/administrator manually add your console's MAC address.

If you have a computer, use this machine to bridge the connection between the PC/Mac and your console.

I found a solution for those in need, but it requires you to purchase a travel router.

1.) Purchase a travel router that supports WISP.

2.) Connect to the travel routers web interface using a computer, tablet, or phone (via Ethernet or Wifi).

3.) Using the web interface, connect to the hotel internet servicing using WISP mode.

4.) Try going to a webpage and you should be directed to the hotel's Wifi gateway.

5.) Enter your room or other info and get connected to the Wifi service.

6.) Either plug the Xbox One S into the travel router using Ethernet or connect to it's Wifi network.

You should now be on Xbox live using the hotel internet (assuming they do not have it blocked).

Hey there PrinceYhuri.

Generally hotel internet requires you to access the browser to accept their Terms and Conditions for use. I recommend reaching out to the hotel for help with connecting to your WiFi. Often times hotel WiFi isn't compatible with an Xbox console.

Here is how I connect my console to a hotel network:

Find your mobile phone's wireless MAC address (should be hidden away in the network settings or info)

Copy this address into the advanced network settings of the Xbox One

Using your phone, log into the hotel phone's wi-fi, once you are connected, try connecting on your Xbox One again.

Fingers crossed you should be able to trick the Hotel WiFi into thinking your console is actually the phone.

as soon as something starts to happen, turn the wifi off on your phone.If that doesn't work, try logging in on your phone, turning off the wifi then quickly turning on your xbox and connecting to the hotel WIFI.

You could also start a VPN.

Also could use a hotspot service on your laptop. In which, you would connect to a hotel wifi on your laptop, broadcast your wifi signal out using a hotspot app. Then connect your xbox to the said hotspot from your computer. Then you can sustain connection
to Xbox Live.

The internet service will have been given a name by the hotel so they can recognize it in amongst the other wifi services out there (sometimes the name can be hidden to prevent others from seeing it). Get the name of the wifi that the hotel supplies and
add it to the wifi connection list. Or another option would be to ask the hotel if you can connect it via ethernet cable to save yourself the trouble.
