connect my offline profile to a new live free account?

only one xbox live account can be connected to a specific Microsoft Account, so if you want to 'upgrade' an offline profile to a xbox live account you will need to use a Microsoft Account that doesn't have an xbox live account already connected.

So if you don't have an Microsoft Account without an Xbox live account connected you will need to create a new Microsoft Account if you want to 'upgrade' that offline profile.

If you created a new account, it is not possible to merge the two together. If you want to go on Live with your offline account, you would need to join Live with that account.

Sounds like you've created an offline profile. The settings will not be available on an offline profile as it does not connect to Live at all.

What you should do is create a new email address specifically for that account then, on the console, log in to it. On the main Home screen you should see an option to Join Live. Select it and follow the instructions adding the email when it prompts you
to do so. It will give the account a new gamertag which you can change once immediately for free.

To make it an 'online' profile for Xbox LIVE please create a new Microsoft Account at
http://signup.live.com

Once created then please take that to your Xbox console, sign in with the offline profile, then from the Home page, select the centre tile and then sign up for Xbox LIVE. That will make your offline profile into an online profile.



That will also change the name of the gamertag, but you will then have the chance for another (free) change of gamertag.
