connect headset directly on xbox one x

the xbox does not support audio over usb, only for a very small select of headphones that have dongles.

Thanks for reaching out, this would be up to personal preference however I have a wireless headset for my Xbox One X and it connects to the console directly and the Xbox can pair the account, controller, and headset to make sure that the headset is using
my profile when in parties. Some headsets require a USB dongle to be connected to the console, but from my current understanding Xbox software may not support this feature depending on the headset itself.

I'd recommend reading the information on the store page for the headset itself to see what they recommend to connect to the console as more wired headsets might connect to the controller or console directly.

Thanks for coming to the forums. Sorry for the issue with your headset. When you are connecting the headset, are you connecting through the controller, or directly to the console? If you are connecting it to the console directly it will not work this way.
The Xbox consoles do not support USB mic, or HDMI mic. Here is a guide to connect

The Xbox One controller (regular and elite) only supports stereo for game audio through the 3.5mm jack or the headset adapter.

As far as I know, the best way to get true surround sound is to connect directly to the Xbox's optical-out port. These types of headsets that connect this way are usually wireless, and have a base/transmitter that connects directly to the Xbox console via
optical cable.

Are you using the microphone adapater, or are you plugging them directly into the headset.
