Thanks for all the info! I was hospitalized for many many months during the win10 roll out. I put it on everything portable but I couldn't get to this desktop I'm using now. It's my favorite by far but it's nothing special. 8Gig ram, 4 core pentium, weak
graphics card etc.. I still don't speak win10 at all, it frustartes the hell out of me. Having this pc w/ win7 has been great but is a crutch that enabled me to not pay attn. to win 10. Guess I better grow up fast! LOL

Arminator, did you have a DL site for win10 or just the normal microsoft route? I'd love to try and see if your idea for free upgrade works still. I can't justify buying it right now. Sounds like I missed the boat once and for all. My 2 favorite PC's are
outdated OS wise....BUMMER

While it's true, that Microsoft ended the free upgrade officially, they do not block you from activating your Windows 10 installation with your existing Windows 7 or 8 key.

So unless they actually block that, I'd assume they tolerate it still. Therefore there is no need to try to get Windows 10 from untrusty sources or use cracks or anything else what breaks Windows Update or gets "uncracked" by a Windows Update.

Unless Microsoft tells me during the installation that an entered key is invalid, or unless they stop activating Windows 10 with a Windows 7/8 serial key, I'd still do it.

So JD aka ANALOG GUY just backup your important data in case anything goes wrong, and go ahead and upgrade to Windows 10.
