This all white background is extremely lazy and ugly. There's too much space everywhere. MS should be able to make a better forum for this.

 

Looks good so far. All the place needs now is people.... .... ....

 

Has anyone else been getting error messages all day? This is the first time i've actually been able to post today haha.

[/quote]Heh good luck with that one. The place has been dead for years ever since a certain moderator decided he wanted to ban 1/2 the regulars on the forums.

 

I genuinely can't understand how, with some of the most talented programmers on the planet working for them, that Microsoft continue to make mis-steps with the forum.

A basic web-design no-no is black text on a pure white background. This is far too harsh on the eyes for doing a lot of reading, like you do on a forum. An off-white background with black or preferably a dark brown text is far better.

Navigation has almost no improvement. The drop-down menus still don't take you to the page you want but to a page with a link to the page you want. This nested system they have is needlessly complicated. A plus though is a return of 'My Forums' which shows
a list of all threads you've contributed to.

Another point on navigation is why the forum navigation links are below those for the page/board you are presently on. Yes I know that it isn't a 'big' deal in the grand scheme of things but it's a silly design choice.

The report function has taken a step back as well if you ask me. No longer can you explain why you think a post breaks the rules, you can only flag it. That might seem okay but if there are multiple posts in a thread rule breaking you can't now just fule
one report and mention the others, you have to flag them individually.

Of course there are some improvements. Paragraphs now work in the quick reply box without having to space out with a symbol of some type.

 

Gah. I don't know if it's because I'm mobile, or what, but there's a whole lot of white empty space to the right, the CULs are all wonky, and there's a reply box after every comment on the first page.

But at least I don't need a hyphen to make paragraphs. That's something.

 

This is now the second time that MS has completely ruined the forums. Jesus christ, its even worse than the last "upgrade".

 

I wonder if we can still change the text color….

 

not sure I like the "new" forum, but im sure it just takes getting used to.

 

I like the new layout. I honestly didn't expect them to come out with a new design. I'm happy they did though.
