    so i only just read how we are getting free copies of Gears 1,2,3 and Judgement via the new backwards compatible thingy when it launches, if we own and play Gears Ultimate Edition on Xbox Live.

    this is bloody awesome since I would love to have the whole series on my HDD to play whenver i want without having to swap discs or consoles. Gears is the only reason i even own and Xbox.

    but where I am confused, the Gears site itself says I have to play on Xbox Live from Aug 25 - Dec 31... when it says on Xbox Live does it mean play PvP online or does it just mean be signed into Xbox Live while playing the game? because I tried loading
    up a competitive match today and its like not a single person in the world is even playing this game, after 15mins still hadnt found a match.

    any help much appreciated.

    Hi there, I believe recording an achievement within the date range will be sufficient as the Halo Master Chief Collection did something very similar with its ODST addition, you needed to 'play on Xbox Live' between X and Y dates and I never played a PvP
    match, just recorded achievements within the date range and I got ODST as well as a few other offers they did for people playing on XBL within certain dates, so as long as you've done that I think you will be fine.
