Confused about xbox live sharing

Recently my brother and I purchased a new xbox one with kinect but we have not set it up yet, we also have never had a xbox live account ourselves before so we decided to each buy our own one year xbox live subscription from a store thinking that in order
for xbox live to work for us we each need our own subscription but after doing some research online I read some stuff about xbox one gold sharing or whatever and I'm confused. Does this mean in order for both of us to use xbox live only one subscription on
one account is required and we wasted an extra $60? We also got the assasins creed unity bundle with it which requires us to download it digitally does that mean even if we make multiple accounts on the console everyone will be able to access those games anytime?

Family sharing

The one who purchased the game as to set the console as his/her home Xbox.

For the 360, each account would have to have it's own gold subscription, but they did change it so that gold can be shared across the console.

Same with the games. Say you use the code for the game on your account. As long as you have the console set as your Home console, your brother can access the game. If he were to play on a different console he would not have the game though.

Don't ever pay $60 for a year of live again...there are way to many sales online nearly year around. Also if you bought codes in a store (brick and mortar) you could apply both to one account (the account you choose to make your home console) and get two
years for both of you to use.

Or as Burnin said, you can just go ahead and use the second code and have 2 years of Live instead of just 1, but it's up to you.

You don't have to uninstall them. You would just buy them so you have your own license. That'll save you from having to reinstall them again.
