    Confirmation that there IS a FAULT on UK/European Server


    I had a call back from the Advocacy Specialist Global Escalation Support team with Microsoft because I have had problems with my latency which is affecting my gameplay, I went from 13ms to 155ms in the last month. For the last week they have had me troubleshooting
    and continuously going back and forth to my ISP trying to get it sorted, when all along, it is a FAULT on a UK/European server, which they said they are trying to fix, more worryingly the representative told it possibly could be a SERVER that could of been
    DECOMMISSIONED!! He also told me that if I check on the Xbox website it says that running at a 150ms is an acceptable speed. I've been told he will get back to me with an update on this issues but as it stands and sounds this is the future of gaming on a XboxOne
    online and for me this is unacceptable, so if you too have noticed a bad connection in the UK and your latency speed is higher then it was before, now you know why. I don't think Microsoft/Xbox want people knowing this yet, and as far as I can see they are
    not making it public knowledge either, so I urge you, if you too are suffering with high latency speeds , spread the word and let Microsoft know that this is unacceptable . I will update this post once I hear more from the Microsoft team.....

    Where are you getting your latency figure from? Is it from the MS network test/details page - in which case 150ms is normal for UK users (I believe it connects to a US server to do the tests).

    But if it's from a game - then surely the problem is with the game server providers (for example, EA for BF4), unless it's Titanfall, which uses MS servers.

    @Satsumo, yes thru the xbox but when it first came out I was getting 13ms now 150ms, Microsoft do say that 150ms is normal but I can't game on that and it wasn't what I was receiving when first playing, they have changed it and sent me on a wild goose chase
    with my ISP, troubleshooting everything when all alone they knew there was a fault or a server decommissioned, they have lied to me and not told anyone in the uk that this is going to be the standard of latency, not only that, they have allowed everyone to
    purchase top connections with their ISP's and it actually makes no differance because they control your latency thru the xbox not your ISP

    The dashboard latency test is meaningless. It has nothing to do with your gaming experience. You will not be playing games connected to the latency test server.

    The Xbox does not control your latency. Latency is purely determined by the location of the game server you are connecting to, and the route it takes to get there.

    Try to play on servers in your own region if you are worried about latency.

    The fault only seems to be with your connection. My latency is, and always has been approx. 150ms. It pings a US server. This is normal.

    I've never had any noticeable latency issues with multiplayer games.

    I don't get how you make the leap from an issue with your connection to now affecting every Xbox One owner in the UK?

    You've made 3 separate threads about this now and nobody else has these issues. I think we can assume the problem is only with your connection.

    I'm not even sure the OP actually has a problem. He is just assuming that the latency test figure given by the console is going to be the same for every game he plays.

    @DUTTY - I have no idea how you ever got 13ms on the MS network connection details but rest assured there's nothing wrong with your ISP or your connection. 150ms is the norm for UK.

    I'm not sure why support are giving you the run around - but they haven't lied. The 150ms latency is just for connecting to whatever server they use for the network test - it doesn't necessarily mean that all network related connections have a 150ms latency.


    To be honest there is no way of knowing what the true latency is with regards to UI serving MS servers (unless you stick some sort of packet listener on your network).

    All I know is that even though the MS network test states latency of 150ms+ when I play Titanfall it shows as 25ms (and that's the most important thing).

    @DUTTY - just to be clear - the 150ms is nothing new. All of us UK users have had that since release - i.e. my latency has shown up as over 150ms since DAY ONE.

    But it could be that there was really a problem and that none of us pulled our finger out and chased support. But I find it unlikely that there has been a MS server issue for 6 months without a) gamers knowing and b) MS fixing it.

    But I hope you are right - because then that means MS will fix it and our UI will fly (it's a little sluggish IMO).

    And I'm the only one who has sort after help and been told by Microsoft that there is a fault or a decommissioned server, FACT! so to be fair I don't really care what your opinions are, because at the end of the day thats all they are, opinions, I did get
    13ms on day one FACT!! and maybe it's your connections that are crap and 150ms is the norm for you, if this was wrong and I'm talking nonsense I'm pretty sure xbox/Microsoft what take down this thread. Sorry if called you an idiot but it frustrates me that
    no one can see or is told about what is going on

    One: Do you also get the same latency in games? (try Titanfall, it shows your latency)

    Two: MS Support will tell you anything (and I mean anything) to get you off the phone, even if it means that their is something wrong their end.

    Three: Do you experiance problems in game, if not then whats the problem?

    @shaggy2000 1. Don't play TF anymore 2. It was MS who phoned me back to confirm there is a problem and 3.yes I am seeing a problem in game, why else would I bother to all this effort if I wasn't getting affected

    This is what I find so humorous...Dutt has stated he has spoken with MS, they told him there is an issue, yet a few of you guys can't seem to believe him and act as if you know better then what MS has told him.
