Microsoft & Community,

Has anyone been successful in implementing a fix to allow the Xbox to talk across multiple subnets?

We run mid-tier enterprise routing equipment and have our network separated into different subnets/vLANs for security and QoS purposes. The vLANs are broken into purpose-specific groups.

GroupvLANCIDRDevices

Personal 110.1.1.0/24Cellphones, Tablets, Computers

Personal IoT210.1.2.0/24Printers, Games Consols, TV's, ...

Business1010.2.1.0/24Computers, Servers

Business VoIP1110.2.2.0/24VoIP Phones

Business IoT1210.2.3.0/24Printers, Scanners, Portable devices

Guest2010.3.1.0/24

Administrative 10.0.0.0/24infrastructure

We can get most of the services to talk across the different vLANs in all desired use cases. Cellphones on the personal network can control tv's on the personal IoT network. But cellphones on the personal network cannot see or access printers or computers
on the business networks. We have even been able to get the SONOS system to connect; controllers that are on the personal vLAN can access the speakers that are on the personal IoT vLAN by implementing IGMP-PROXY service between the two vLANs. But, this has
    not helped the Xbox situation.

    We have
found a solution where someone was using NAT
to change the IP addresses of devices in their personal vLAN to match the subnet of their IoT vLAN and get a connection to the Xbox; however this is not a solution that our system is capable of performing between
    vLANs.

Can anyone with Microsoft or intimate knowledge of the firewall & security policies of the Xbox lend us some insight?

To help identify possible solutions here is the hardware we are running.

    • Ubiquiti UniFi Security Gateway Pro 4
    • Ubiquiti UniFi Switch 48 POE-500W
    • Ubiquiti UniFi AP-AC-Pro

    :)
